The B18B Block

B18C1(GSR)Oil Pump Swap
One of the first thing I choose to do sinces I have
the Non-VTEC B18B block separated and clean.
Is to swap out the Non-VTEC oil pump for a higher
flow rate B18C1(94+ GSR) oil pump.
Below here you can see the p74 pump still on the block

Oil pump swap

How to tell the difference between the b18c1 vtec oil
pump and the non-vtec b18b.
As you can see, the GSR VTEC has only a little
distinguish part to tell the differences.

Oil pump differences

Tools used to remove & install the oil pump
12mm+14mm Socket, 12mm+14mm wrench, &
a flat head
Tools Used

Remove the 6 bolts(4 12mm & 2 14mm)from the oil pump
Installations is reverse of removal

12mm bolts remove
14mm bolts remove
Use flat head to remove pump
The 6 bolts

Oil feed for the VTEC head

We'll start off with removing the allen bolt that is plugs to the head on the intake manifold side.

19mm
The Oil adapter size is a -4AN flare with a 3/8 thread. Don't over tighten the adapter when installing.

Do It Yourself Braided SS line
Prepping the Head
You will need about 3ft of lines. You can purchase these from www.summitracing.com.
For the fittings, I used (4) -4AN flare fittings from Earls.
3ft+ SS braided lines
Part# 300104 You will need 3 of these
Part# 304604 You will need 1 of these 45 deg. fittings for the head
Part#981604 3-Earl's -4an to 1/8NPT adapter

Now measure and tape where you want to cut the hose. It's
recommended that you use a vise to secure the hose
down. Then you can choice to use a hack saw
or electrical saw that will be able to cut thru steel Reason for
the tape is to prevent the hose from splittering apart. Don't let
this happen, because it will be very difficult to get the fittings to fit on to the hose.
Then you will want to use a wrench to twist the fitting cap on.
Do this to all four fittings and 2 hoses

Use a vise to secure the hose
Insert the fitting cap and thread together by hand 1st

There you go
This is what the SS line should look like when it's connect to the 3/8 NPT adapter
This is a pretty simply and straight forward procedure to learn how to make your own SS lines.
Use electrical tape when cutting the lines apart.
Just don't let the lines splintter when you attempt to connnect the fittings together or it will
be a pain to get the fittings to fit the lines
