We've seen Mulder hang up on Scully a countless amount of times. Mulder's has been burnt, "assaulted" and damaged. Scully even says that if Mulder had to do without one, he'd lapse into Catatonic Schizophrenia. Yes, it's the great communication device often used in The X-Files called the "cellular phone".
