The Wreck of the Fugu

February 14, 2000

Below are some pictures of my one and only shipwreck in all my years of sailing. We lost the "Fugu" when her rudder failed as we entered treacherous "Haulover Cut" just north of Miami, Florida, on February 14, 2000.

I sent a mayday to the United States Coast Guard, but "lucky" for me, Action Marine Towing of Miami was closer and told the Coast Guard to disregard.

My 28' Sloop "Fugu" After the Shipwreck

This is my 28' Cal sailboat "Fugu" on February 16, 2000, three days after Action Marine Towing (A BOAT/US Company) of Haulover Cut, Miami, Florida, called off the US Coast Guard and responded to assist me.

This is her one week later. Thanks for all the help "Action" Marine Towing.

Since then I purchased, retored, and sold a 1973
MacGregor Venture 24 which I named "Renegade Wind"
