"Are you sure you want to let him go?" a male voice asked.
Faye swung around to look at Nick. "Why wouldn't I be?" she replied with a question of her own.
"He is the one, right?"
"The one?"
"You spoke of the man you loved at the party last night. Is that him?"
"Yes."
"Then why are you letting him go?"
"He left me Nick. I will never forgive him for that."
Nick shook his head. "He just told you why he had to do it."
"His reason was not good enough."
"He was only trying to protect you."
"I do not need his protection. I can take care of myself." Faye glared at Nick. He only smiled back at her.
"You love him Faye."
"I'll get over it."
Nick laughed at her. "Do you think that it is that easy?"
"I'll deal with it. I can do anything."
Nick shook his head. "You are being stupid Faye."
She raised a brow. "Am I?"
"You know you are. You don't want him to leave."
Faye was silent. She did not know what to say. "Go talk to him, Faye. Work things out. You will loose your chance if you let him leave."
"He wouldn't leave anyway. We still have those vampires to get rid of. He will not go unless they are dealt with."
"Is that is only reason for staying?"
"Of course it is. He did not come here looking for me, and you know that. He will not stay here just for me either."
"Are you positive?"
"Yes. He does not feel as I do."
"You are wrong."
Faye looked into Nick's eyes. "Do you think so?"
"I know."
Faye sat down on the couch. "So you think that I should talk to him?"
"I do."
Faye nodded. Nick assumed that she was going to take his advice. He left her alone to think things through.
