Faye had just gotten out of the shower at the penthouse. Damon had already been gone for three days. She looked at the t.v. when she noticed that a special news report was on. She listened carefully to what the news reporter was saying.
"Another body has been found. This time it was a young teenage girl. Her identity can not be released as of yet. Her body was found not more that a couple of hours ago. Like the other victims her neck has been slashed, but there was still signs of little or no blood. The authorities are still unsure of the reason why her body seems to be sucked free of all blood. The authorities also urge that no one goes out alone, especially at night."
Faye turned off the television and sat on the bed. She did not like the sound of the broadcast. She was no stranger to unusual deaths and she had the feeling that an unknown force was behind it all. Faye shook her head trying to forget about it. It had no effect on her life whatsoever. She knew that she was being paranoid. Since high school and her experience, she disliked hearing news of Death. Faye lay out on the bed and promptly fell asleep, pushing the murders to the back of her mind.

Far away from New York Damon watched a similar news program. He knew that his brother was right to get in contact with him. He longed to get back to Faye but he knew that it would be impossible until they caught and killed the new vampire that was on the rampage. He could not risk Faye finding out what he was. He longed to tell her many times, but was afraid that she would turn from him, be disgusted in him. He could not risk that.
He thought of the many times that he had almost bit her, each time in their bed. He resisted the urge every time. He knew that he could bite her and make her forget, but he just could not do it that way. He would not feed off of her unless she knew what he was and accepted it. If only he could tell her.
