Kate opened the door and her mouth fell open. She stood there staring at the very handsome blonde boy who was looking back at her. She leaned on the doorway and smiled at him. "Why hello," she whispered seductively.
He smiled back at her. "And hello to you."
"So, I do hope that you are here to see me."
"I can be."
"But he's not," came another male voice.
Kate turned to frown at the person who had just spoken. Her mouth fell open once again. This guy was identical to the other one. She smiled once again. "I do hope that I can convince you otherwise."
The newcomer smiled at her. "I do admit that your plan has its advantages, but we will not be here long."
Kate frowned at them. "That's too bad. By the way my name is Kate Stevens."
"Chris Henderson, and that's Doug." the newcomer replied.
"Okay, now what can I help the two of you with?"
"We're looking for Faye Chamberlain."
Kate frowned once again, "She always has all the fun," she mumbled.
"Excuse me?" Doug asked.
"Oh nothing. She's upstairs right now. Do come in."
The two of them walked into the house. "You mean that she is actually at home?" Doug asked her.
"Yes, Faye does not go out much anymore. She rather just sit around the house and be depressed."
"That's not like Faye." Chris stated.
"Well that's her now. Things have changed with her in the past few months."
"What happened?"
"She broke up with this guy."
"That happens all the time. Faye is always dumping guys when someone better comes along."
"I know, but this time the guy dumped her."
Doug laughed, "No guy would do that to Faye."
"Well this one did."
Chris frowned, "But that should not upset her. She always finds someone better."
"I believe that she was pretty attached to this one. They lived together for a couple of months."
Chris was shocked at that one. "She actually moved in with him?"
"Yeah. She still had some of her things here, but she stayed over there most of the time, especially the nights. She did, at least until he left. She hadn't heard from him in about three months."
"Can we see her?"
"Sure, I'll go get her."
"No need, we'll just go upstairs."
"What?"
"We're her friends from back home, it's okay."
Kate shrugged and watched them head up the stairs to Faye's rooms. She realized that she did not give them the directions to the room, but they did not turn back to her to ask her. Maybe Faye told them on the phone some time ago.

Faye sat in front of her vanity looking at her reflection in the mirror. She realized that she looked paler than usual. Her appearance had changed a lot since Damon had left. She could no longer see the fire within herself. She knew that she was ruining her life because of Damon, and he wasn't even worth it. She needed to move on, but for some reason she could not do that.
"Hi there, Gorgeous," came the voice from her doorway.
Faye looked up and saw them. "What are the two of you doing here?"
"We came to see you." Chris answered her.
"Well I can see that. Why?"
"You did not show up in New Salem."
"Why would I be there?"
"It's the birthday season. We always meet for the season. Don't tell us that you forgot about it?" Doug said, she saw confusion in his eyes.
"I suppose that I did."
"You forgot your own birthday?"
"I've had other things on my mind."
"So we have been told." This came from Chris.
"Kate told you." It was a statement, not a question.
"With good reason. This is very unlike you Faye. Men mean nothing to you, just something to play with."
Faye laughed at him. "Even you, Chris?"
"We're different and you know that. You don't treat your circle that way."
"Come back with us." Doug said to her.
"Who sent you here?"
"Diana got worried when you did not show up at the start of the season. She sent us to find you, and bring you back home where you belong." Chris answered her question.
"You are the leader, Faye. It is you duty to run things." Doug added.
Faye snorted, "There are two other leaders. I'm sure that the circle did not forget that. Most did not believe that I should have been a leader in the first place. You know that it is true Chris. You did not vote for me after all. I'm sure that all of you could have gotten along fine without me."
"Don't talk like that Faye. Sure I voted for Diana, but you won. Although the way you won is questionable, you are still the leader of the coven. You were elected first, and you are the one in charge."
"Come on Faye," Doug whispered in her ear. "Forget about this bastard and come home with us. Let's party."
Faye turned to look at herself in the mirror once again. She looked into the opened jewelry box and took out her star ruby necklace. The one that she used to wear all of the time, and used to amplify her powers. She had stopped wearing it after she had moved to New York. She tried avoiding her powers all together. They were fun in high school, but she was not that Faye anymore. Maybe...
Faye placed the necklace around her neck. She smiled at her reflection, and then turned to smile at the twins. "Let's go."
The two of them gave her identical smiles. She turned back to the mirror. "The two of you can help me pack, and then we can leave. My birthday is next and I would not want to miss the party."
Faye gave her reflection a quick wink and stood up. She headed towards her closet.
