Part 1

Ebony sighed. The dark was beautiful, mysterious. It blanketed her with a primal warmth and an eternal coldness that humanity had long forgotten. It was…surreal, it had hidden depths that Ebony had always felt in tune with, even before she became one with it.

To thank for her newfound vampirism, she had Darius. He was the darkness she craved, the midnight she feared. He had raven black hair, and bright green eyes that sexily contrasted his tan. His presence was inescapable. He watched her, an obsession of his. A sick, twisted obsession that made Ebony feel extremely desirable, and extremely vulnerable.

At first, she had enjoyed it on many levels. The insane thrill of being wanted, needed…desired. It had a hold on her…nothing else could compare with it. When he would sneak into her bedroom at night, she loved it. He never did anything…just watched her for hours on end. She pretended to be innocently dreaming, acted the helpless maiden deep in slumber while she secretly watched him back, willing him to rip the sheets off her naked body and forcefully deprive her of her girlish innocence. He never touched her, but still, never let his gaze wander from her. That was until one night…the night she died.

Ebony had waited patiently for Darius and she very nearly fell asleep. She felt a draft as the window slid open. It was about half eleven at night. Ebony would go to bed earlier in those days in the hope that Darius would show earlier. For the first twenty minutes he watched, his usual activity. It was about five to twelve when the difference of that night revealed itself.

He finally tore the sheets from her. Ebony remembered her sudden joy, the urge to rid herself of her maidenly shyness. The she remembered the urge to scream…and the pain of fangs. Darius whispered in her ear.

"Now my pretty, you will finally be mine…" The last sound she heard was the old grandfather clock in the den, striking midnight.

That was the story of how she became a creature of the night. She had known nothing of the night world to begin with. She had not known vampires such as herself existed. She only realised her true nature when her lack of oxygen had forced her to instinctively attack her closest friend Karen. Ebony shed a tear for dear Karen. If only she had known what she now was, maybe she could have stopped drinking the metallic red substance. Of course, she loved the blood. It was rich, intoxicating. It reminded her of the far off exotic lands of which she had never been to, but longed to visit.

Ebony had spent many nights after Karens death trying to figure out her transformation. She read books, but relied on getting most her information off old cheesy horror flicks she played on the dusty old VCR her mother had given her as a moving present. It was only when she tried to feed on a fellow vampire named Ash that she discovered what was known as the night world.

Darius now terrified her. She could live in fear no longer, so she was running, running from her life, her family. Running from her problems. She would catch a plane to Vegas and join what Ash had called circle daybreak. Yes she thought. Everything would be alright. But it wouldn't.

The sick thing was whenever she heard the name Darius Redfern, she shuddered, from fear…and from longing. In her own insane way, she still dreamed of the night he would take from her, and the night she would enjoy it. Walking alone at night through darkened allies was not the best time to think of Darius. He was always nearby…and he was coming for her. She knew that much.

Ebony had taken a vow to herself, something to stop her deluded fantasies. She had decided that no matter what, even if he killed her, she would NEVER be in Darius's posession. Ebony Michette NEVER went back on one of her vows….NEVER.
