Ebony ran to Ash's room instinctively. She needed to talk and Ash was the nearest to a friend she had. The only other person she could seriously say she kinda knew was Darius. Darius, dark, charming and sexy…in a vampiric sort of way. He would kill her so much as kiss her. In a sick kinda way, Ebony wouldn't mind either. She kicked open Ash's door, nearly whacking his nose in the process.
"Hello…uh, Ebony…why are you here?" Ash did not seem like a 1:00 AM kind of person. Rather than answer him, Ebony began to weep in confusion. Ash seemed to wake up suddenly. "Come in…come tell me about it."
"I…oh Ash…the reason I'm here…" Ash started to talk slowly, the way you would speak to a small child.
"The reason you're here is…?" He prompted.
"This guy…stalked, turned me…oh Ash.."
"What?"
"I still want him!! It's insane, impossible, he's evil…ruthless, cold blooded…but I still want him" Ash looked puzzled and concerned.
"Who, Ebony…tell me who…" She stared into his eyes and suddenly felt strange. She remembered the thrill of Darius's stare, green eyes shining through the night. She pushed herself onto Ash.
"Emm, Eb? Your kinda squashing me…" Ash tried to push her back but Ebony forced herself closer. She tried to kiss him, but he turned his head.
"I understand you're upset, but you should just try to rest…no, stop that!" She started to unbutton the front of her white silk nightgown. It was sinfully short and there wasn't much that wasn't visible underneath. Ash kept protesting, trying to shift her gently. Ebony was now pushed against him so hard that any attempt to move her would result in her being badly injured. She started to kiss him hungrily.
"Mmm…Darius" Ash started to shout, but Ebony was in her dreamworld. A world where Darius and her were alone, the rest of the world was not in existence. She would have gone further into the fantasy if it had not been for the door creaking open and disrupting the moment. Ash's friend, the one called Quinn strutted in.
"Ash, m'man….yow…" Quinn couldn't help but notice Ebony's lack of clothing…her gown almost down to her stomach, breasts pressed firmly to Ash's chest.
"Quinn…I can explain…wait…" Ash stuttered, not exactly wanting to give Ebony the blame.
"No Ash, I can see just fine what's happening. God man…you have a soulmate…doesn't that mean anything to you? I'd expect this off Galen or maybe Eric…but you….Ash Redfern!" Ebony froze.
Quinn had said Redfern…as in Darius Redfern. Shit, he must have been spying on her. Slipping past Quinn in the doorway, she escaped down the hallway, pulling up her gown as she went.
When she entered her bedchamber she locked the door behind her. Gathering her suitcase, still half packed from the trip to the mansion, she stumbled to the door, grabbing her jacket as she left.
The security was lacking that night, and Ebony escaped quickly, jogging swiftly down the dark, palm lined drive. It was only about a minute until the gate was in sight, along with the shadow standing close by.
"Well, my dear…what brings you to this place?" Ebony's chest heaved as she tried to take a steady breath.
"Darius…stay away from me…I mean it!" She didn't sound to convincing.
"Is that what you want, what do you really want Ebony?" He spoke in a voice like crumpled silk. Ebony choked.
"The dream…?"
"Yes, rather ingenious on my part, although you won't understand it…yet!"
"Stay away from me!"
"Yes, you've already said that. I suppose you don't realise how useless those words are." He mused a second, eyes lingering hungrily on the transparent part of the gown. Ebony pulled her jacket tighter together. "You don't seem to realise your position, do you? No, the sweet, innocent child in you doesn't understand..." He leaned closer before she could move back. His warmth breath sent shivers down her spine as he whispered in her ear. "…If I were to try and take you now, do you really think you could stop me?" Ebony shivered again. The truth of his words cut into her and gave her a dark thrill.
"Darius…" She began.
"How about we play a game?"
"A…what?"
"I'm only half Redfern you know, my other half is much more powerful. I am a shadow man, you probably don't understand, but you should be very afraid…" He trailed off as she stepped back and grinned dangerously.
"Let me go…"
"I'm not stopping you, the gate is just past me, do you think you could make it?" She opened her mouth but he continued before she could speak. "Anyway, I have a proposition to make, soon you will be offered the chance of a game. Should you choose to accept, you will have a shot at your freedom. If you decline, well…your friends may suffer the consequences…"
"Leave them alone…!"
"Oh Ebony, Ebony. When will you realise, I'm not interested in them, it's you I want…and will have. If you win the game, you shall go free, if not…you will be mine."
"…and what if I refuse to play?" He shrugged.
"Either way I will have you, be it hurting your Ash or just taking you. The game is your only chance of me leaving you in peace…"
And with those words, the handsome vampire, fled, his shadow dissolving into the night.
