Julian waved a hand in front of the energy ball, and it disinegrated. I watched in silence, noticing that I was staring at him with hate burning in my eyes.
He looked back at me coolly," Temper, temper... it's a shame you can't control yourself."
I gave an icy smile," You should be the one to talk. Last time I heard, you were loosing your balls over some human girl." I heard someone stifle a giggle, and turned to Thierry.
" You formed an alliance with the Shadow World?," I asked him, disbelief apparent in my eyes.
" Yes... we did," Thierry glanced at Julian quickly, then back at me," Do you two know each other?"
Both Julian and I were silent.
" No," I finally answered," But that small detail doesn't matter. What does matter, is that he's a Shadow Man," I spat out "Shadow Man" with obvious disgust," And that I'm a Seriana." To me, that explained it all. But it obviously didn't mean jack to Thierry and the rest of the Daybreakers.
" Um...can you clue us in?," Eric asked behind us.
Julian, with contempt in his eyes, answered for me," The Shadow World and the Sisters of the Seriana are arch-enemies."
" I guess that means that we're not gonna have that party after all," Ash quipped. I didn't smile.
" Lilith," Thierry began, then looked back at the Shadow Man," Julian...please, no fighting inside the house."
I choked back my urge to laugh. Fortunately, I wasn't the only one, Poppy smiled madly and Quinn had a faint amused smile on his face. It was faint, but it was there never-the-less.
Just at that moment, the Night World decided to ambush Thierry's mansion.
The sound of glass breaking caught my attention. In an instant, everyone was alert. Downstairs, I could hear snarling and a howl of pain.
Thierry's eyes narrowed," Rashel, Quinn, and James follow me. Ash, Poppy, and Thea take the stairs on the left."
The people named followed Thierry's orders without a word. Meanwhile, I stood silently, fighting the two concepts of staying in the room or joining the fight downstairs. Thierry's eyes then focused on the three remaining people: Eric, Julian, and me.
" Eric, stay in the room. Julian and Lilith, gaurd the stairs," Thierry said in a commanding tone. What does he take me for? A commoner?
" Sorry, but I have other plans," I replied icily, and brushed past him to fight off the Night World. My missioned can be postphoned for just this fight, I thought to myself as I knocked a vampire to the ground with a knuckled punch. Besides, I hate interruptions.
I saw Julian descending down the stairs from the corner of my eye as I threw another energy ball at another opponent. My opponent, another vampire from the looks of it, writhed on the ground in deep pain from my power that embedded itself in its body, running through his flesh. The pure strength of my power was too much to handle, which made it deadly. Not only to my opponents, but also on rare occasions, to myself.
I saw Julian punch a vampire into the wall, then dodged an air attack from a mountain lion shifter. Despite myself, I admired his grace and agility. His body was attuned to every muscle, enabling him to move precisely. I gave myself a mental slap. Snap out of it, he's a Shadow Man. Remember what they did to your people. I thin frosty smile formed on my lips at the horrible memories of the war that happened in another dimension between my people and Julian's.
Lost in my memories, I didn't notice the chair that the vampire thug that I had punched, smack it down my head.
Cra-ck!
I stood still as stone as the splinters of wood showered around me. My face was a blank, carefully controlled mask. A very very bad sign for this punk.
I slowly turned towards the vampire. His face was contorted in confusion. He took a step back, and I countered his step by taking another step forward to him.
My eyes were glittering, almost feverishly. The voice that left my lips was quiet, but with a deadly edge," You're gonna pay for that."
The vampire backed himself up into the wall, and I grabbed his collar, pulling him towards me. He tried to fend me off, but I just swatted them away.
I pulled my face close to his, foreheads touching. His eyes were jade green, sexy and alluring. But not now. Now, they were wide open with fear. I could smell his fear percolating out of his body.
I slowly pulled my face closer to his, staring into the depths of his eyes. Our lips were barely touching. In a husky whisper I said," Here's to pain and pleasure."
Then I kissed him.
I startled him with the kiss, but soon enough he was reponding back. He groped my ass. Okay, maybe responding a little bit too much. Oh well, not for long.
As the kiss grew deeper and more passionate, his skin felt hot and feverish. He tried to break off the kiss.
What are you doing to me?!?!?!, he screamed in my mind.
Feeding, I replied a matter of factly.
He writhed in my grasp. I could feel his power leaving his bady....and entering mine. It was a most refreshing and rejuvinating experience. It was actually his soul I was suppose to be feeding on, but vampires don't have souls. They're really just walking corpses.
Call me a succubus if you want. You may not be entirely wrong. It was rumored that not only were Seriana's sirens, but also part succubus.
I finally broke off the kiss with a sigh. The fighting seemed to have stopped. All was quiet. I dropped the empty shell of the vampire from my embrace. Theorically, it was still alive. But the reason why it was only an empty shell, was because not only did I feed off of it's powers, but also off it's mind.
I turned the body over, disgusted with the vampire. It was weaker than a baby now.
" Well, that was certainly interesting," A voice full of grim amusement called from the stairs.
I turned. It was Julian. I wasn't suprised.
" Actually, it would have been more interesting if you were the one that recieved the kiss," I replied in a lilting voice.
He arched an elegantly curved eyebrow. Does he pluck?, I wondered.
" So you're lusting after me now, are you? Just can't wait to taste these lips of mine," He said it with such confidence that I had to bite my lip to keep from laughing my ass off.
I replied back," Tasting that power of yours is more like it."
He just grinned.
" I never knew Serianas had a sense of humor," He said with casualty.
" And I never knew that Shadow Men were so damn egotistical," I shot back.
" Isn't everyone?," He questioned with another arch of his damn perfect eyebrow.
I just glared at him.
" Lilith! Julian!," A voice caught my attention. Thea's voice called from the opposite doorway. A second later, she appeared.
" Are you two alright?," She asked anxiously.
I shrugged, then turned to Julian," How about you, Shadow Boy?"
He gave a small smile," Never knew you cared."
I sighed in frustration. Not only did Serianas hate the Shadow Men because of what had happened in the past, but also because it was a known fact that Shadow Men tended to be egotistical and so damn sure of themselves.
" I'm leaving this little meeting now," I informed Thea," Tell Thierry." She made space for me to pass.
" Oh wait, Lilith," She called out.
I turned back.
" Thierry wants you at another meeting tommorow. Dinner meeting. He said to be there at 8," She informed me.
Great. Just great. Another Daybreaker meeting, just what I needed.
I rolled my eyes," Fine, whatever. I'll go."
I turned my back on them and left for my currently rented apartment.
