"I will always protect you..." The red-headed man's golden eyes flashed with intensity as he held on to her shoulders. "I will always love you. Never forget that, Ana, never forget that..."
Diana woke with a start and sighed. She had been having the same dream each night for a week. Ever since seeing the man at that club. She didn't even know his name.
"You're looking terrible, Diana." Faye adjusted the brief black shift on her chest as Sean's eyes nearly popped out of his head. "Trouble sleeping these days?"
"Be quiet, Faye." Laurel glared at her as Faye raised her eyebrows and smiled darkly back.
"Come along kiddies, stop fighting." A deep masculine voice spoke up from outside the circle. Diana jumped and turned to see who was there. Red hair glinted as he turned to face the circle fully. "Hello Diana."
"Oh my god..." Diana felt a strange burst of energy and lurched forward under the stress of it.
"Who the fuck are you?!" Doug jumped up, almost breaking the circle before Nick pulled him back down.
"Don't break the circle!" Cassie yelled putting an arm around Diana's arched back.
"Suddenly this all is seeming a lot more interesting." Faye remarked glancing first at Diana before smiling at Hunter.
"Who are you?" Adam glared at the stranger directly after the circle had been dispersed.
"Hunter." He smiled and focused in once more on Diana. She looked at him steadily before dropping her eyes to the grains of coarse sand that were scratching at the sides of her bare feet.
"I believe that I really don't care what your name is." Nick said in a low, even voice. "What matters is what you are."
"You're not human or witch, I can sense that much." Cassie broke in with a frown marring the straight lines of her face.
"How astute, Cassie." Hunter said mockingly, looking away from Diana's blonde perfection for the first time. "I am a vampire. Lamia to be exact."
"There is no such thing as vampires." Diana said raising her head defiantly.
Hunter laughed outright then at Diana and the other member's looks of surprise. "You want some sort of proof?"
"Like what? Do you carry around a vampires-r-us card?" Diana challenged, her eyes flashing. The rest of the coven was speechless at a side of Diana they had never seen before. The fighting, venomous side. Only Faye was grinning with pure amusement at the sparks that were flying between her cousing and the strange man claiming to be a vampire.
Hunter frowned slightly at her and sighed in irritation. He the opened his mouth and ran a finger carressingly along one of his moderate-sized canines. As it grew, Diana gulped at the change that came over him. It was a look of infinite hunger. The others backed away, but she seemed frozen, staring at the strange beauty of this man, who was before her eyes, turning into one of the greatest myths, or what was believed to be a myth, of human history.
Yet, she could only stare in thrilled fascination, faced with something she had never before dreamt was real. She was ashamed to think that the only thing relevant to all of this, that she knew of, was the last time she had seen one of the twins stick two straws in their mouth and make strange noises around them.
"Want more proof?" He said easily around his teeth and snapped them somewhat threatening at her.
