Part 4

Diana's slim arms sliced through the water with percision as a pair of golden eyes mocked her in her head. She rolled over to her back and just floated there staring up at the stars.

Hunter did strange things to her emotions. He both thrilled and scared, she thought somewhat bitterly. He was unlike anyone she had ever met. Although, admittedly, Diana hadn't exactly met an amazing number of vampires in her time. She grinned to herself and then blushed as another thought popped into her head. I wonder what being a vampire does to the rest of his physical self... She blushed some more and started swimming back to shore with the bright light of the moon lighting her way.

"Where's my towel?" She walked to where she had put it down on the beach and looked at the bare sand.

Suddenly, the towel enolded her from behind along with the pair of strong arms holding it.

"Ahhh!!"

"Diana, calm down. It's me." Hunter's voice had a great deal of amusement tinging it as he pulled her into complete contact with his body.

"What a relief." She said with not just a little amount of sarcasm. Diana shivered then at the feel of him against her and tried moving away. Hunter tighted his grip around her shoulders and waist and smiled against the wet silk of Diana's drying hair. She sucked in a breath and turned her head slightly toward him without knowing why.

Hunter placed his lips against her neck and gently kissed the soft skin there as he trailed his hand lightly across the white lycra covering her waist.

Sparks seemed to be set off wherever he touched Diana's extremely sensitized flesh.

"No..." Diana pleaded, scared of what he was making her feel. "Stop."

He spun her around to fully face him and placed his cool lips to her's. Diana's world exploded as she was thrown into a world where the only colour present was a beautiful dark red, the same colour as Hunter's hair. She was in his mind. It was so full of pain... She could feel her mental self reaching out to him before the pain of being thrown back out settled in sharply.

Hunter physically threw her from him so she landed on her side in the sand. "What have you done to me?!"

He towered over her with a frightening silver glint in his otherwise golden eyes.

Diana shivered under the onslaught of his eyes and stood, wrapping the fallen towel around her swimsuit-clad body.

She felt extremely shy about showing more skin than she needed to, especially around this near-stranger. Although, she had been kissing him until she had been kicked out of his mind. Diana actually had a theory about what had happened, but she needed to talk to Melanie about it before voicing it to Hunter. She sincerely hoped that it wasn't what she thought it was. Her feelings toward him scared her. Not even Adam had made her feel like this.

*Answer me!* Hunter's voice thundered through her mind. Diana started in surprise before glaring at him and turning away. She took two steps before her upper arm was caught in Hunter's iron grip.

"I need to feed, don't tempt me, my dear." He said smoothly as he spun her to him. Anger still glinted in his fantastic eyes along with a hunger no human could even dream of.

"Why are you always trying to scare me?" Diana's curiosity overtook her fears.

"Christ, she's trying to analyze me. Just answer the goddamned question, witch." He tighted his grip to the point of pain.

"Let go of me now." She glared at him in warning. When Hunter merely laughed, Diana focused all her energy to her arm in an attempt to shake him.

"Fuck!" He jumped back and rubbed at his blacked hand. Diana watched with amazment as the dead skin flaked off and new pink skin started growing underneath.

"That's amazing..." Diana breathed. "May I touch it?"

"Excuse me?"

"Can I touch your hand? That's incredible. Your ability to heal yourself is far beyond anything I've ever seen."

"Are you mentally challenged?" Hunter squinted his eyes at her and sent out a slight mental probe to her mind.

He winced when all he encountered war an incredibly hard shield and another glare.

"I am not mentally challenged, and stop checking for it!" In a move that took even her completly by surprise, she leapt at the source of her irritation with her nails clawing for his eyes.
