For children a little older (ages 6-8), regardless of how the reading of the book is handled e.g. whether they are read to, read it on their own or something in between, there could be questions after each chapter and/or a discussion time. And the stories are short enough to hold the attention of a little child and the young reader. The book has over 40 illustrations to help with comprehension. Originally published in 1894.
