Going Through Loneliness

GOING THROUGH LONELINESS
Day after day, night after night, I sit home alone,
Hoping that someone will call me on the telephone.
I have no true friends in my life,
And I am no man's wife.

No matter what I say or do,
I can't find one friend who is true.
People lie, cheat, and steal out in the world.
It's enough to make your hair curl.

Why do they slander an innocent one?
People are mean but they think it's just fun.
There will come a Judgment Day,
When what we sow will be repaid.

written in 1981 after divorce
