Do You Know
This Man?
I'm trying to locate anyone who might have any information
about my father-in-law. His name was Michael Gorun. He was stationed in
New Guinea in the early years of W.W.II. He appears to have been with the
43BG, stationed there in early to mid 1943. One of the photos has Hollandia,
New Guinea written on the back of it. That was one of the 5th Air Force
bases. He might have been with one of the mobile repair outfits, or part
of the 375th troop Carrier Group because of the picture of him with a B-17
that has a number right behind the cockpit. These were apparently used
for places too hot for C47s. That also might explain the tommy guns in
the group photo.
If anyone has a relative or friend that was stationed
in this area, please show this page to them. I'd love to find out as much
as possible about his war years. Please send any lead, no matter how small
to me at: jeuban@home.com
My sincere thanks to +Tiff ^Nomads^ for helping me
with the detective work up to this point. All of the information that we
have so far came from his research.......thanks, Tiff.
