Resolution In Support of
Missouri Prisoners Labor Union
(proposed)

Whereas
The economic self-sufficiency of Prisoners is central to any program of rehabilitation either individual or institutional and that paying Prisoners wages comparable to Free citizens is rehabilitative, a cost effective method of saving taxpayer dollars and a pro-active response in order to prevent more jobs from being sentenced to prison at wages far less than what would be paid otherwise.

Whereas
The Missouri Prisoners Labor Union is organized by Prisoners and supporters, to improve the living and working conditions of Prisoners primarily in the State of Missouri prison system and to inspire like efforts across the United States.

Whereas
Missouri Prisoners Labor Union members have been subjected to all forms of abuse and harassment propagated by the Missouri Department of Corrections for organizing their workplace in violation of numerous National Labor Relations Board Regulations, United States Constitution and International Treaties-Agreements.

Resolved/B>
That the Industrial Workers of the World condemns the continued use and or expansion of Prisoners labor at less then a sustainable wage.

That the Industrial Workers of the World condemns the continual violation of Prisoners human and Civil Rights.

That the General Secretary/Treasurer is instructed to send on behalf of the organization a letter to the Missouri Department of Corrections condemning the continual interference of Missouri Prisoners Labor Union activities and harassment of its membership.

That the General Executive Board immediately cause to be produced and issued a special voluntary assessment stamp valued at no less then $5.00. Proceeds after initial costs shall be forwarded to the Missouri Prisoners Labor Union by a mutual agreed upon process between the General Secretary Treasurer, General Executive Board and person(s) designated by the Missouri Prisoners Labor Union.

That the Industrial Workers of the World membership at large, elected leadership, delegates and or other representatives are encouraged to assist the Missouri Prisoners Labor Union by every means possible including but not limited to financial and personal correspondence.

That General Membership Branches are encourage to collectively support the Missouri Prisoners Labor Union by every means possible including but not limited to special collections of voluntary donations at meetings.

That the Industrial Workers of the World membership at large, elected leadership, delegates and or other representatives are encouraged to actively investigate other means of directly assisting the Missouri Prisoners Labor Union to establish like organizations in other regions.

That the editorial collective of the Industrial Worker is instructed to devote no less than 500 words per edition to the issue of prison labor.
