In 1981, VIA Rail made its first major purchase, a fleet of Bombardier-built LRC trains. “LRC” stands for “light, rapid, comfortable.” The last of these units were retired Dec.2001 with the arrival of 21 GE P42-DC's. They had been used on the Montreal, Quebec City Toronto corridor the last few years but were a common sight elsewhere earlier. These are my photos.
