CN 1423 now GMD1u, got its start at CN 1000, GMD1, built 1958. Of course it was equipped with six-wheel A1A trucks. It spent much of its career on Vancouver Island, often in Victoria It was rebuilt and renumbered to 1423 in 1989 with BB trucks from retired GP9s in 1989. It carries "PATRIMOINE FERROVIAIRE" (Railway Heritage) on the side of the cab. Sadly it derailed near Hants Border NS, 13 September 2004, while on lease to the Windsor and Hantsport Railway.
