When I was a kid I believed everything I was told, everything I read, and every dispatch sent out by my own overheated imagination. This made for more than a few sleepless nights, but it also filled the world I lived in with colors and textures I would not have traded for a lifetime of restful nights. I knew even then, you see, that there were people in the world -- too many of them, actually -- whose imaginative senses were either numb or completely deadened, and who lived in a mental state akin to color-blindness. I always felt sorry for them, never dreaming (at least then) that many of these unimaginative types either pitied me or held me in contempt, not just because I suffered from any number of irrational fears but because I was deeply and unreservedly credulous on almost every subject.

~Stephen King

-[ A darkness overshadows the surroundings of a dimly lit room. Nothing is clearly visible other than an open window, in which only darkness is visible from it. A flicker of light is seen from the corner of the room as a candle is lit, better illuminating the surroundings. From what is visible, the room is empty with the exception of a few pieces of furniture with white sheets placed neatly over them. The camera better focuses in on the figure that lit the candle. A flash of light reflects off of a gold object around the figure's waist. As the figure raises the candle up to it's face... the figure's identity can now be seen. B-Pac stares back into the camera, the light seemingly swiring around and evaporating in his cold, black eyes. ]-

B-Pac: " Pitch black. The still of night. Sleep. The time when fantasies of passion and fears of horrible realities come to life all in the same instance. For some, it is complete relaxation from a day's work... but to others, it is a gateway to another dimension full of unspeakable horror. Dreams are said to be random thoughts that pass through the brain during a time of unconsciousness... this may be so... but can a random thought send you running to the restroom to splash water on your pale, horrified face after you have just had a nightmare? Can a random thought haunt you from the time that you are a child until the day that you die? Can a random thought trigger anxiety attacks that call for medical attention? In a word... NO. These dreams, these nightmares are more than random thoughts... they are often times just as physical as a real event which begs the question "So, are they a real event?". The truth lies in the eye of the beholder. I often times wondered, as a youth, why I kept having these explicit, vivid dreams of horrible things... and yet not once did I get frightened. It was as if I were watching things from the outside... but as I thought about it more... I finally reached a conclusion... "

-[ As if in slow motion, a gush of wind enters the room and outens the candle as the eerie guitar riffs of "Cold" begin to play in the darkness. A rustle of clothing is heard and a slight movement is seen in the darkness as a quiet and deep laughter is heard followed by a whispering. ]-

Whisper: " When I lie down and close my eyes every night... I have these awful, hideous nightmares... but the ironic thing is that.. I never reach sleep. Instead, while my enemies sleep, I come into their mind... and invade their dreams. I tap into their fears and feed on them; weakening them to my attacks thus giving me an easily beaten prey. I am that one solitaire, recurring nightmare that eats away at their mind... causing them to question their sanity. I was never frightened by my nightmares because my nightmares were, in reality, their nightmares... And Max Payne, if you aren't a religious person... you may want to turn to God now... because I fear... that He is the only One that can save you..."
