Moroni played quite well (it was only his second match game) so great effort considering you’re still new at this all! Brendan and Daniel did a wonderful job of tackling, they too made some great runs for the team. Let’s try our hardest at training boys, listen to your coach and trainers – so you can improve your score next week. _____________________________________________________________________________________ MATCH REPORT - Game 2 - Under 8/2’s VS St Mary’s (1) - Lost 55 - 0 ---------- Good effort this week boys! Another well done to Lachlan for receiving the 'Pizza Award' for his great service at dummy half. Brendan made some awesome tackles which saw him winning the 'Defender of the Week' trophy. Daniel and Travis made some good tackles this week - glad to see you're chasing those players down! Riley gave good service from 1st receiver and tackled well, and Moroni was strong up the middle against those big St Mary's boys! Corey was consistent with tackling and he had some good runs. Better luck next week boys - keep your heads up and remember to listen at training! We're sorry you couldn't be with us today Bradley and Hayden, hope all is well for you to play next weekend. __________________________________________________________________________________________ MATCH REPORT - Game 3 - Under 8/2’s VS St Clair (1) – Lost 41 - 0 ---------- Thank you to our Sponsors ‘Celebrations Galore Party Hire’ and ‘Gloster Tilt Tray Services’. What an excellent effort this week boys! Well done to Corey for his big defence and great dummy half work earning him the 'Man of the Match' trophy this week. We are sure it wouldn’t have been easy to play so well against your old team. A special mention to Moroni for his huge runs and big tackles which earned him the Pizza Award. Daniel - going up against his old team mates - made some tricky tackles winning him the 'Defender of the Week' trophy. Bradley only played for a short while as he got injured during play, though he did really well for the time he was out on the field. Travis ran brilliantly out there today even though he said he’d prefer to make all the tackles! Riley made some good runs and was up in their face in defence every time. Brendan along with Moroni showed the opposition just what the ‘big boys’ are made of! Lachlan and Milton also had to face up to their old team, and like Daniel and Corey - made a really great effort in all areas. Well done to Haiden for playing his first game for Under 8/2’s! We are all really happy to have such a good player on our side. Better luck next round boys – although a big WELL DONE for not allowing Maddog the chance to leave early to watch his other sons game! Sorry Maddog – better luck next time mate. Have a safe and Happy Easter we’ll see you all in a week. _______________________________________________________________________________________ MATCH REPORT - Game 4 - Under 8/2’s VS St Marys (3) – Lost 17 - 13 ---------- Thank you to our Sponsors ‘Celebrations Galore Party Hire’ and ‘Gloster Tilt Tray Services’. Well done to Lachlan for his excellent try scored in the first five minutes of the game! (1 x 3). This, as well as his hard work in dummy half won him the ‘Man of the Match’ trophy. Yet again Corey made some BIG tackles and excellent runs that helped him to score two tries (2 x 3) and one goal (1 x 2). He was the winner of the ‘Defender of the Week’ trophy this week. Haiden – our Pizza Award winner - had some good runs, one that almost saw him scoring what would have been the winning try. Too bad that the Ref blew the whistle too soon! Moroni with a leg injury kept trying his best throughout the game, making some great runs and tackles. Daniel played well making some strong tackles until he received a jab to the eye – which sent him to the bench. Bradley ran well and unfortunate to miss out on scoring a try again. Better luck next time mate. Travis had his usual strong running and tackling game and was another to leave the field with an injury. Riley was our first receiver and gave good service to all the runners. Brendan ran strongly and made a conversion to Corey’s second try, he too was another player to just miss out on scoring a try. Milton pulled off a few try-saving tackles in a typical strong performance. Overall a good game boys, do remember to show up to training ready for some hard work – as this is the only way to get to the top. As Daniel says “Andrew Johns doesn’t just turn up for the game and win – he trains harder than any other player to be the best player ever”. _________________________________________________________________________________________ MATCH REPORT - Game 5 - Under 8/2’s VS West City Tigers – Lost 17 - 12 ---------- Thank you to our Sponsors ‘Celebrations Galore Party Hire’. Well done to the boys this week, you all played very well but unfortunately we just missed out on a win this week. Congratulations to Bradley who finally got across the line for his first ever try (1 x 5) after a few near misses in the earlier games, this and his strong defence earned him the Man of the Match award this week. Travis was at his rampaging best with some huge runs up the middle and led the way in defence to receive the Defender of the Week award. The Pizza Award went to Brendan for his strong running game, he always left Tigers players lying on the ground as he charged past them. Haiden put in another good performance at first receiver and made some great runs when he had the ball in his hands. Daniel played his best game so far this year with some long side stepping runs and finished it off by kicking a goal (1 x 2). Riley was also very elusive when running the ball and played well when in first receiver. Milton despite copping a few tough hits was still in there running the ball right up until the end of the game. Corey played dummy half today and came very close to scoring a few tries with his runs from dummy half, he too as copped a few hits but still got up and kept going. Lachlan once again got across the line for a try (1 x 5) showing how much pace his has to out run the Tigers in a sprint to the line. Moroni unfortunately missed todays game but don’t worry mate, you will just have to have a big game next weekend.__________________________________________________________________________________ MATCH REPORT - GAME 7 - VS St Mary’s lost 12-10 Thank you again to our Sponsors ‘Celebrations Galore Party Hire’. Well done to the boys this week although we didn’t get the two points it was still a very impressive performance by all of you today. Haiden had his best game for the club today with his long runs and good service from first receiver earning him the man of the match award. Bradley had a great game today tackling anyone who came near him to earn the defender of the week award. Corey tackled well and had a very solid game in dummy half to win the Pizza award today. Daniel had another outstanding game today scoring a try (1x5) and unfortunately just missed his shot at goal to draw the game (I’m sure it went over!). Milton once again had a typically strong game with some excellent running and tough tackling. Riley led the way in defense and scored a late try (1x3) and converted our first try (1x2). Brendan was strong up the middle and put us on the front foot with his long runs. Travis again showed that size isn’t a factor with his great charges and even stronger defense to drive the opposition backwards. Lachlan is the quiet achiever of the team who was always safe at fullback and showed his great speed to make a lot of yards with the ball in hand. Overall a very good effort and you deserved better than a loss today but we will make up for it next week.___________________________________________________________________________________ MATCH REPORT - GAME 9 - VS Colyton – Lost 14 - 12 Thank you to our Sponsors ‘Celebrations Galore Party Hire’. Well done to the boys this week, you all played very well but unfortunately we just missed out on a win. Today we came up against the team running first and we gave them their toughest game all year but again just fell short. Congratulations to Daniel again had a top game and opened the scoring with an early try (1 x 5) and was unlucky to just miss scoring the winning try near the end, for his effort today he won the Pizza award. Lachlan was very solid in defence today including making a brilliant try saving tackle to earn the Defender of the Week award. Riley was asked to play in a number of different roles today and did them very well to earn the Man of the Match award. Bradley has improved his defence out of sight in the last few weeks and showed that again today with some great tackles knocking the bigger opposition over, he also made a few good runs in a solid all round performance. Travis showed he only knows one way to run the ball again today with some strong runs up the middle and was solid in defence. Brendan ran well and tackled strongly today and unfortunately just missed with his shot at goal. Haiden was very elusive when running the ball with his long side stepping runs and played well when in first receiver. Milton scored our other try today (1 x 5) and with his long runs deserved a few more but unfortunately couldn’t get across the line. Corey played dummy half today and came very close to scoring a few tries with his runs from dummy half and tackled strongly for such a little guy. Moroni was strong in the middle with some big runs and always got there biggest player like we asked him to do before the game. Also good luck to Bradley who is running in the relay up at Penrith tonight, I know a few of the boys will be there cheering him on. Just remember boys the wins will come we just have to keep our heads up and keep trying our best.
