Knowledge Hunt - Oral/Written Communications in 1800s

You have just read in your typing book about the invention of the typewriter in the 1800s.  There was another invention that impacted oral/written communications.  It was the telegraph.

The telegraph was invented by Samuel Morse.  Read this article about Samuel Morse.  This answer the following questions.

1.  What was the famous message that Samuel Morse first sent over the telegraph?

2.  Do you think Samuel Morse ever got discouraged?  When?

3.  Where did Morse get money to build a telegraph?  Where do people get money today to build inventions?

Another invention that has impacted oral/written communications is the Analytical Engine invented by Charles Babbage.   This engine was supposed to use loops of punched cards to control an automatic calculator.  However, Babbage never got it to work.  The idea of the machine he invented earned him the title as "Father of Computing."
