Thousands of Lives were lost on the 31st of May, 1889, in the 18-mile valley between Johnstown, Pennsylvania and the Conemaugh Lake. When the South Fork Dam collapsed, it unleashed 20 million tons of water, which hurtled through the Conemaugh Valley and crashed through a half dozen towns as it made it's way to Johnstown.
