I started building websites when I was... 16? 17? One of them. I learnt a limited amount of HTML in year 10 programming and that was one of the few useful things I learnt in school aka one of the few things I actually remember.
With this small amount of knowledge, I went to Express Page, which, due to the fact I couldn't use images, I quickly left. Using Gurlpages, I produced Royalist Alley, which was a website devoted entirely to the fan-fiction and fan-art of the book series Broken Sky, by Chris Wooding (I believe it was the one and only website for fan-fiction and fan-art of the book). Gurlpages didn't give me a lot of space and was rather limited, so I packed up and moved the site to Angelfire.
Quite obviously, I'm still with Angelfire.
Picking up more HTML and Java language along the way, Royalist Alley ended up becoming quite a big site (especially the forum). But with my interest in the site and the series fading, I handed control of the site to Vik Brown of Takami's Keep in early 2003 and in May 2003, disbanded the website.
I'm not sure what the address is or what happened to it.
Then, in November 2003, illusion came along.
I'm not entirely sure why illusion was spelt in lower case letters along. I presume that English, English Literature and their exams got to me too much and I couldn't be stuffed using a capital for the first 'i'. Whatever it was, the lower case stuck. illusion was originally built as a website tribute to the year level I was in at school (because I'd just finished high school). After making some half-assesed attempts at learning to use frames and realising the sudden amount of adws really pissed me off, I re-designed it using a purple CardCaptors Sakura layout from Day Dream Graphics. I don't remember what the actual layout was. I believed I also used some yellow layout from this same site for my blog. Though the layouts were absolutely gorgeous, they didn't supply enough room for text.
illusion was also becoming more of a personal site about me, so this was going to be a major overhaul - new layout and content.
Being into the movie Van Helsing at the time, I decided a Van Helsing layout would do quite nicely. Pandora (who's sites I can't actually remember at this time) helped me with the layout and handed over the picture of Marishka, which got messed up in the pixel changing. Eventually I grew tired of the layout and was transformed into the black and white David and Iman Bowie you now see...
illusion version 4.0 has been created by a mixture of tables and cascading style sheets (CSS). The hours that were slaved over producing the new layout were helped by the coding advice from Lissa Explains It All, which I believe to be an absolutely fantastic site when it comes to HTML, Java, tables, frames and CSS. The David and Iman Bowie image, both the ones from the main layout and the introduction page, were both as I remember from the Hilfiger photographs and made to look thratch by saving the images as GIF files in Paint.
Copyright and frequently asked questions (FAQ) reguarding the site can be found to the right and if you have further questions, I can be emailed at kira_mars5@hotmail.com. Just put 'illusion' in the subject so I know it's not spam.
