September 29, 2004

This is late for America and early if ever for Australia, but two days ago (the 27th for all those who don't know what today's date is despite the fact that it's smackbang above this entry. I always laugh when people at a computer ask me what the date is. It's like 'duh, run your mouse over the clock at the bottom of your screen') Sony re-released the albums 'Earthing', 'Outside' and 'hours...'. While they include the original CD, there's also a bonus CD for each one with various versions, remixes and bonus tracks, adding up to forty-four extra tracks if you buy all three albums.

I didn't do the math. That's obvious.

Anyway, they're available seperately or combined in a special slipcase edition, neither of which I've seen yet. There's also bonus track information and photographs. Below are the different songs on each bonus CD - the song is listed, then all the different variations available next to it in brackets, and this is followed by new songs for that CD. Got it? Good (not that I care).

EARTHING bonus CD

Little Wonder - (Censored Video edit, Junior Vasquez Club Mix, Danny Saber Dance Mix)
Seven Years in Tiber - (Mandarin version)
Dead Man Walking - (Moby Mix 1, Moby Mix 2)
Telling Lies - (Feelgood Mix, Paradox Mix)
I'm Afraid of Americans - ('Show Girls' official soundtrack version, Nine Inch Nails V1 Remix, Nine Inch Nails V1 Clean edit)
V-2 Schnedier - (Tao Jones Index)
Pallas Athena - (Tao Jones Index)

OUTSIDE bonus CD

The Heart's Filthy Lesson - (Trent Reznor Alternative Mix, Rubber Mix, Simple Test Mix, Filthy Mix, Good Karma Mix)
A Small Plot Of Land - ('Basquiat' official soundtrack version)
Hallo Spaceboy - (12" Remix, Double Click Mix, Instrumental, Lost in Space Mix)
I Am With Name - (Album version)
I'm Deranged - (Jungle Mix)
Get Real
Nothing to be Desired

HOURS... bonus CD

Thursday's Child - (Rock Mix, Omikron: The Nomad Soul Slower version)
Something in the Air - (American Psycho Remix)
Survive - (Marius De Vries Mix)
Seven - (Demo version, Marius De Vries Mix, Beck Mix 1, Beck Mix 2)
The Pretty Things are Going to Hell - (Edit, 'Stigmata' film version, 'Stigmata' film only version)
New Angels of Promise - (Omikron: The Nomad Soul Slower version)
The Dreamers - (Omikron: The Nomad Soul Slower version)
1917
We Shall Go to Town
We All Go Through
No-one Calls

And for those wondering (and I know there are cause someone emailed me about this), the limited edition of 'Hours...' which has that mega cool cover which changes picture depending on which way you turn it, can't be brought in stores anymore as far as I can tell. I got it because I got the CD about a week after it came out, but now it's just an ordinary front cover. As I have no intention on ever selling it, go see Ebay.

The official 2005 David Bowie calendar (Source: Bowie.Net)

Yes, my children, there is goddamn FINALLY an official 2005 DavidBowie calendar. A happy anonymous source by the name of Total Blam Blam has heard that it'll be $18, but it's uncertain whether this is an US, AU or whatever price (if it's the US price, it'll be around $36 I believe AU... which really isn't so bad). It spans Bowie's career of the eariler years - Ziggy - and by the looks of things, 1999 and 2000.

If it's not available in Australia, I'll kill the bastards in charge.

ANYWAY, here's a preview of the pictures possibly going to be used. Is it just me or are the majority of these Ziggy pictures?

On a final note for today's David Bowie chat, who proposes I just change the Blog page into a Bowie news page? That's what it's turning into.

One... two... okay, majority wins (oh alright, I was both of those people but it's not like anyone cares). I'll leave the last posting here then instead of deleting it and see what I can do...

The new David Bowie DVD, 'A Reality Tour' (Source: Bowie.Net)

The picture above - the one right above this text. See it? Just there. Little to the left... there! - is the cover of the new David Bowie DVD, 'A Reality Tour', as described by me at some other point in this blog. The world-wide release date is October 19.

Well, it is for the rest of the world. Australia has to wait another week (because Sony Music Australia are bastards!!!)

Sony Music Australia didn't like the date, so they're releasing the DVD in Australia on October 23 (according to Bowie.Net) or October 25 (according to Sony Music Australia). NOOOOOO!!! Now, the report on this on Bowie.Net by Total Blam Blam (the Bowie.Net news editor) states that there is no intention to delay the release. That's just confusing - does that mean that there's no intention to delay the release past October 19 or that there's no intention to delay the release after October 25? To hell if I know.

Now for some cheerful, definite news!

The tracklisting for the DVD is available, and it looks like THIS:

1. Rebel Rebel
2. New Killer Star
3. Reality
4. Fame
5. Cactus
6. Sister Moonlight
7. Afraid
8. All The Young Dudes
9. Be My Wife
10. The Loneliest Guy
11. The Man Who Sold The World
12. Fantastic Voyage
13. Hallo Spaceboy
14. Sunday
15. Under Pressure
16. Life on Mars?
17. Battle for Britain (the Letter)
18. Ashes to Ashes
19. The Motel
20. Loving the Alien
21. Never Get Old
22. Changes
23. I'm Afraid of Americans
24. Heroes
25. Bring Me the Disco King
26. Slip Away
27. Heathen
28. Five Years
29. Hang On To Yourself
30. Ziggy Stardust

Following on, guess what this might be...

It's a new release of the 'Reality' CD! YAY! Never mind the fact I already own it... the only difference in appearence is that the first release of 'Reality' is white in colour, this new release is silver in colour. It's already available for AUSTRALIA, because I've seen it. The new additions is a new song, 'Waterloo Sunset', and live DVD versions of all the other songs on the CD. I'm taking a stab in saying that the live DVD versions come from the massive concert via cinemas across the world David Bowie performed for the first release of the CD. It's a tour edition.

And yes, double checking where the live DVD versions come from, it's the whole live 11-track performance of 'Reality' at the Hammersmith Riverside, which was the cinema concert.

Finally, for COBY - David Bowie's Reality tour was hailed as the second best tour (after Radiohead) for 2004 in the Critics' Picks section in the Rolling Stone Music Awards 2003 poll.

David Bowie on stage at the concert I went to! Source: Undercover

Following yesterdays'... uh... report, I now know when the DVD of David Bowie's tour, 'A Reality', will be released in Australia - September 13 (hey, my best friend's birthday!) It's a two disc set - the first disc contains the live concert of November 22 and November 23, 2003, at The Point in Dublin, and the second disc contains a tour documentary and probably some footage of the concerts in New Zealand and Australia, which took place in Februrary and March of this year. Apparently there will be a CD release of the concert in addition to the DVD release, but no one knows too much about that yet.

Having a look at the set lists that were played on those two particular concerts, the songs included on the DVD should be, more or less:

Rebel Rebel, New Killer Star, Reality, Fame, Cactus, Afraid, All The Young Dudes, China Girl, The Lonelist Guy, The Man Who Sold The World, Hallo Spaceboy, Sunday, Under Pressure, Life On Mars?, Ashes To Ashes, The Motel, Loving The Alien, Never Get Old, Changes, I'm Afraid Of Americans, Heroes, Bring Me The Disco King, Slip Away, Heathen, Five Years, Hang On To Yourself, Ziggy Stardust, Sister Midnight, Days, Be My Life, Fantastic Voyage, The Letter, Breaking Glass, The Angels Have Gone and Fall Dog Bombs The Moon.

On the plus side, I found the play list of the concert I went to, on 26th February, 2004. It was the longest play list (29) songs that had been played since the beginning of the Oceania leg of the tour:

1. Rebel Rebel
2. New Killer Star
3. Fame
4. Cactus
5. Reality
6. All The Young Dudes
7. China Girl
8. Hang On To Yourself
9. The Lonelist Guy
10. The Man Who Sold The World
11. Pablo Picasso
12. Hallo Spaceboy
13. Sunday
14. Heathen
15. Under Pressure
16. Life On Mars?
17. Slip Away
18. Looking For Water
19. Starman
20. Quicksand
21. Days
22. White Light, White Heat
23. Ashes To Ashes
24. Panic In Detroit
25. I'm Afraid Of Americans
26. Heroes
Encore
27. Try Some, Buy Some
