Originally, GP9s had high short and long hoods to run long hood forward. The CN GP9RMs in service today have been rebuilt from these older GP9s by reducing the nose height to give visibility from the cab. They now usually run short nose forward.

CN 4111 is a GP9RM, built as GP9 4326 in 1959 rebuilt and renumbered in 1984. It is seen here working in Aldershot Yard with CN 7032 April 25/05 at 8:23 am.
