Here's some family history, I knows it would look better and be easier to follow if it were done up in a chart. and who knows, maybe someday I'll gets around to doing that. Here goes, and I hopes that I doesn't end up completely confusing you people. We'll start off with Mom's side of the family.
Mom was born in NFLD in 1935 to NFLD born parents. Grandma was born in 1913(d-1971)in NFLD to a Moroccan mother and Irish father. Now there's a mixture,eh!! Grandpa was born in 1912(d-1975)in NFLD to Irish parents. Great grandma(grandma mom), was born in 1894(d-1959)in Morocco but her parents weren't Moroccan. In fact her mother was Hungarian and her father was Irish. Are you still with me, or have i lost you??!! Great Great Grandma(Great Grandpa's mom), was born in Ireland in 1872(d-1941)and Great Great Grandpa(Great Grandpa's dad), was born in Ireland in 1872(d-1942). Grandpa's mom was born in Ireland in 1894(d-1962)and his dad was born in Ireland in 1893(d-1960). Great Grandma's mom was born in Ireland in 1871(d-1943)and Great Grandma's dad was born in Ireland in 1870(d-1943). Great grandpa's mom was born in Ireland in 1871(d-1945)and Great Grandpa's dad was also born in Ireland in 1871(d-1946).
Now we'll take a gander at Dad's side of the family
Dad was born in NFLD in 1934 to NFLD-born mother and Irish father. Grandma was born in 1914 in NFLD and Grandpa was born in 1912 in Ireland. Great Grandma(grandma's mom) was born in 1890 in England and Great Grandpa(grandma's dad) was born in 1892 in Ireland. Great Grandma(grandpa's mom) was born in 1893 in Ireland and Great Grandpa(grandpa's dad)was born in 1892 in Ireland. Great Great Grandma(great grandma's mom) was born in 1866 in England and Great Great Grandpa(great grandma's dad) was born in 1864 in Ireland. Great Great Grandma(great grandpa's mom)was born in 1873 in Ireland and Great Great Grandpa(great grandpa's dad) was born in 1870 in Ireland.
We'll even tells you about names that have been in our family for hundreds of years and why these names are important to our family and why they are past on every generation.
The names that are past down generation to generation for hundreds and hundreds of years are : Darcy and Kerry for females and for the males: Caelan, Kieran, Kerry, Donnelly, and Skelly. All these names with the exception of Skelly and Caelan, all mean "Dark one", "Dark haired", or "Dark skinned". Caelan means "Strong Fighter", and Skelly means " StoryTeller". Now, these names have been like I said above, past down for many hundreds of years and generation to generation. The reason why these particular names have remained in our family is because over in Ireland, our family, with some other families over there, are known as "The Dark Ones". now, i knows what you're thinking and that's not what it means. It doesn't mean "black" or "African", or "Evil". Now that we have that cleared up, lets move on. "Dark Ones" refers to those that were born with the dark features; eyes, hair, and complexion. Now, you're probably still confused and i'm afraid that you'll have to remain confused because i can't explains it clearer. Most people born to Irish background are usually of fair features or red hair and fair skin. There's an old legend, fair tale that is told in Ireland, mostly to "Dark ones" while growing up and it's a nice story. And it's about the "Dark Ones" and how they came to be. Also sometimes the story includes *selkies* and *Roan Inish*. The tale was even made into a movie a few years ago, and the movie was called "The Secret of Roan Inish" and it was good. Go rent it, if you want to understand somewhat of what i've tried to explain here of the "Dark ones". The tales and movie doesn't relate of course to all "Dark Ones", but still it's worth seeing.
