SC 601: Appeared as new routing in 1939, running as a 2 mile cutoff between SC 6 and SC 43 (current US 378) east of Lexington.

Creation: Appeared in 1949 as a resurrected state route. Ran as it does today, except its eastern endpoint was US 21 (now SC 35).
| Adjustments: SC 602 first appeared in 1940 as a new primary route, running as it does today. In 1948, SC 602 was downgraded to secondary status, possibly to S-32-34. When US 21 was moved to its current Knox Abbott alignment, it is unclear whether SC 602 was extended north to meet US 1 or not, as the old US 21 became US 1-21 CONN, which was still considered a primary route. Improvements: Fully paved at resurrection in 1949; no multilane sections Comment: SC 602 is blown off by I-26. |

SC 605: Appeared in 1941 or 1942 as new primary routing. Ran from SC 6 in far western Calhoun County south through Staley Crossroads (current SC 172) and to the Orangeburg County Line, a total of 8 miles.
