What the image shows?H II Region and Reflection Nebula in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC). It is in the constellation known as Dorado. Where it is?A reflection nebula, which is the oddly shaped dust-like cloud surrounded by a cluster of young, hot stars. Henize S22 is the bright star at the top of the picture, DEM L 106 is the larger nebula and N30B is the double bubble. How far away it is?These structures are located in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy of our Milky Way, which is 160,000 light-years away. Henize S22 is 25 light-years from the N30B nebula. What makes this image interesting?From N30B nebula, Henize S22 would " appear 250 times as bright as the planet Venus" from Earth (http://hubblesite.org). |
