Spotted Salamander |
The Spotted Salamander was designated as the State Amphibian by Act No. 79, 1999, (H. 3111).
* The Spotted Salamander is a large salamander reaching lengths of nearly 8 inches or more. * The background color is usually a black or dark gray with a light or slate gray coloration * It has several yellow patches or dots along the sides running in a line from the head to the tail. |

* In the United States they extend along the eastern seaboard to Virginia and extend to extreme eastern Texas. * Within this southeastern range they no longer come into contact with the sea with exception to South Carolina. |
