FEEDING FRENZY

HOME

Some birds eat clay ,bird food, crackers, and dead animals.
a baby songbird cannot see. it cannot fly. it cannot do much of anything. about the only thing they can do is eat.
as soon as baby songbirds hatch out of their shell, the parent birds start to stuff them with worms, caterpillars, and bugs. the baby birds eat every thing their parents give them.
a man in England spent the whole day watching a nest of robins. he counted the number of times the parent birds brought food to their babies. the nest had five babies in it. the parents had to bring enough food for all five.
the parent birds hurried back and forth to the nest all day. each time they came back, they brought two or three caterpillars. at the end of the day the parents had brought about 1,000 caterpillars.
