No they did not have cars back then but the did have horses and they were the main thing they used.

The telegraph allowed messages to be sent electrically over telegraph wires. This was much faster and more reliable than sending messages by horse messenger. Other means of communication, such as signal towers, provided communication over short distances.
Did they have good doctors back then?
No they didn't have good doctors back then so if they got shot they would have to cut of their legs since they didn't have medicine.
