Butterflies really start as a caterpillar. First when a caterpillar is born it is a acts like a real caterpillar. When a caterpillar is full the caterpillar makes a chrysalis. The caterpillar stays in the chrysalis for a few weeks or months. Then when the caterpillar comes out it is not a caterpillar it is a butterfly. It has to live by his or herself.
