Quabbin High has started cracking down on rules and regulations. Quabbin’s population has increased making new students unfamiliar with the rules of the school. Students who previously attended Quabbin are familiarizing themselves with the new codes of conduct and dress code. The faculty and staff are enforcing these rules and regulations. Disrespect in students has escalated to a point where we must go back to basics. There has always been an element of disrespect in schools, however it is increasing. The student body should recognize that being disrespectful towards our elders hurts our reputation. Dr. Gwen Goldstein, a psychiatrist from Umass Medical School in Worcester Massachusetts stated “We have to understand that this is the year 2001 and things have changed since the 60’s. Kids are more independent therefore making themselves feel as though they can do and say anything they want.” Dr. Goldstein mentioned that we won't know when this rising trend of disrespect will end until the future years. "We can only try to make things better and make sure not to take things for granted," states Dr. Goldstein. |
