TRUTH that Zechariah teaches ACTION that Zechariah invites
1. Steps toward knowing GOD and his ways
All that GOD has promised to do he will do. The LORD neither makes false promises, nor warns in vain. We mustn't interpret his patience and tolerance toward disobedience as an expression of impotence when executing judgment. On the contrary, GOD desires our repentance and restoration. If we return to his arms, he will complete the work of perfecting what he has promised us.
1:2-6
Understand that GOD doesn't hurl threats of punishment in vain, and that he always fulfills his Word.

1:16,17
>b>Believe
and understand that GOD has every intention of bringing his people to the maturity and prosperity that he has always promised.

3:3-5
Believe and accept that GOD forgives the sin of those who repent and return to Him. Review his righteousness.

2. Instructions for growing in piety
Piety implies a pious conduct that springs from a pious heart. GOD rejects those who fast or practice some religious ritual to serve their own ends. The pious person stays attentive to the Word of GOD, even when it may not be pleasing or calls for a rectification.
7:4-7
Be sure that when you fast your motives aren't selfish. Accompany your fasts with right and obedient attitude.

7:11,12
Open your ears to prophetic or solemn warnings. Know that calamities can occur otherwise.

3. Steps toward holiness
Holiness implies the commitment to live exclusively for GOD in the way that He teaches us.
4:1-6
Depend on the Holy Spirit to realize the things that GOD has commanded you to do.

8:16,17
Practice sincerity, veracity, integrity and justice in all your interpersonal relations. Examine your heart, and avoid any type of insincerity or hypocrisy.

4. Keys for a wise life
We should learn how to interpret circumstances from GOD's point of view.
4:7-10
Don't allow the "little things" to discourage you. Understand that GOD doesn't give the importance that we do to the size of things. Don't forget that what GOD begins, he triumphantly completes.

13:9
Understand that GOD's discipline serves to purify his people and prepare them to work with justice.

5. A lesson in faith
The task of establishing and completing the definitive temple (His body) has been assigned to Jesus, but He wants us to participate in it following his instructions. Our contribution will be recognized, but the glory is all his.
6:10-15
Understand that Jesus Christ has promised to build up his Church and complete it as a manifestation of his glory. Remember that your offering (v.10) is important to fulfill that task and that it is a privilege to give all the glory to the LORD (v.11).
6. Lesson for leaders
Remember that the Word of GOD is always true! Faithfully teach the Word of GOD so that the results are fruitful and suitable in the long run.
10:2
Leaders, understand that false prophesies, erroneous or corrupt teachings, and personal opinions presented as absolute truths result in a church lacking power, stability and security.
