1. Keys to understand God God is Creator, and only He lives for himself. We are his creatures. God created everything that exists so that each creature could then reproduce according to its kind. | 1:1-2:25 22:14 |
1:1-2:25 Understand that as creature, you are ultimately responsible before your Creator. Understand that only you can show that you are. Therefore, seek to appear so to Christ.
22:14 | 2.Guidance to avoid sin The human being falls by his own will. The temptor is the father of lies (John 8:44) and seduces us, attracting us to sin. The liar questions the Word of God to give him (the liar) great worth in our eyes. Our opinions easily fall prey to Satan's deception. |
3:1-5 | Don't impugn the Word of God. Ask, instead, "How does it apply to my life?" Suspect the calling that comes from carnal appetites, the visual dazzle that makes us preoccupied with perishable things, and that which encourages personal ambitions (see I John 2:16). |
3. Steps to hate sin. God hates sin without exception, and therefore it should be judged and condemned. Entire civilizations have fallen because of sin. Genesis teaches that to be faithful to God means to hate sin. |
6:1-7 11:1-9 19:1-28 |
6:1-7 Avoid a life set apart from God, who once destroyed the earth by flood because of it.
11:1-9
19:1-28 |
4. Key lessons in the faith Abraham is the father of faith and the faithful. His life exemplified faith. From this "friend of God" (James 2:23) we understand that having faith is not equivalent to being perfect. On the contrary, it is simply to trust in the Word of God; doing this, Abraham became a model of faith for the believer. His life shows how we benefit ourselves by believing in that which God says, apart from appearances. |
12:1-9 15:6 16:1-4 22:1-14 |
12:1-9 Don't fear when God's purposes take a direction that you don't understand. The Lordknows what he's doing.
15:6
16:1-4
22:1-14 |
5. Keys for an abundant life from on high. The lives of the patriarchs illustrate with luxurious details how encounters with God inevitably produces men and women who are generous with God and with others. Codified later in the Law, the tithe begins with an act of faithfulness and devotion to God, as an acknowledgement that our riches are only in Him. | 14:18-24 28:18-22 |
14:18-24 Tithe as a basic expression of trust in God and your alliance with Him. Thus did Abraham, raising his hands (that is, proclaiming his alliance) "to the Lord, the God Almighty, the possessor of the heavens and earth".
28:18-22 |
6. Steps to achieve a dream from on high. Joseph was faithful to a dream. His life proved that dreams move away from people of sin 37:5-10 |
39:4,21 39:9 41:14-57 45:7; 50:20 37:5-10 | Hold on to the dream that God gives you early in life. Don't let go of it God can make it reality.

41:14-57
