A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984)
"Whatever you do, don't fall asleep."-Nancy
Ok, I know a lot of you might think I'm crazy, but I'm not too big a fan of this movie. I mean, it's good, but it's not my favorite.
Basically, A Nightmare On Elm Street focuses on Nancy, a teenage girl who begins having strange nightmares. The nightmares involve a man with knives for fingers. The dreams are very, real, and begin to scare Nancy.
Her friend, Tina's, parents are gone so Nancy, her boyfriend Glen, and Tina's boyfriend, Rod, decide to stay at Tina's house to keep her company. Rod and Tina go have sex, and after falling asleep, Rod, Nancy, and Glen are awoken by Tina screaming, and Rod sees her drug up the wall, get her stomach slashed, and be thrown across the room by an invisible force.
The police automatically blame Rod, but Nancy suspects the man with the knive fingers may have something to do with it, because Tina had a similar dream to Nancy's. From there on, Nancy and Glen try to keep eachother awake, because they realize that the man, Freddy, can only kill them in their dreams.
One thing I liked about this film was the dream thing. Something scary could be happening and you don't know if the person's dreaming or not. The Freddy character isn't scary, in a sense he's kind of funny and likes to play around with his victims. Overall, not my favorite, but still very good.
