The Fae are important influences in our lives. Even if you don't believe in them, that doesn't matter. What does matter is whether they believe in you. So perhaps you might want to reconsider your beliefs.
The Good Fae are faeries such as the Tuatha de Dannan (too-THA de DAN-nan) and Daoine Sidhe (THEE-na SHEE). These fae were not, are not, the little teensy-weensy ikkle cutsies that are in Disney cartoons today. They were a proud and gracious people, the size of humans, and unwinged unless they wanted wings. They didn't do much to help the human lot, but they didn't do anything (except a few mischeivous tricks) to harm the humans, either.
The UnSeelie Court, the Evil Fae, are the ones nannies and mothers threaten their children with. The Banshee, the Kelpie, Peg Prowler and the Fachan are all examples. The Banshee drives men insane with her cries, the Kelpie(also known as the Aughisky) kills men by offering them a ride on it's back (it appears as a horse)and then drowning them in marshs, the sea, or rivers. Needless to say, the UnSeelie Court is one best stayed away from.
The last, the Half-Fae, are rather new. They are generally humans who are slowly becoming Fae, or have visited the Land of Faerie (Tir Na Nog, or Annwyn, or what-have-you), and other such things. Tam Lin was a Half-Fae.
