The Irwan Kingdom

The Irwan Kingdom

History

The Kingdom of Maple has its roots in the anceint city of Turim, which is believed to be lost. During the Drying of the Gulf of Turim, the creation of the Aus Desert, and the shatttering of Suami civilization, the ancestors of the Irwan Kingdom began their exodus from the fall of Turim, to the west. After traveling through the Turim forst, they hit the lush and verdent Maple Grasslands.

Very quickly, the Irwan tribe spread throughout the grasslands and settled down. At the crossroads of the Dran and Vor rivers, the city of Map Sural was built. Slowly, it became the foremost city amoungst the Irwan.

Contact with the Charnal

2000 years ago, the Charnal Empuire reached its peack, and began its slow withdraw down to the Charnal Gulf, leaving a power vacuum in Western Maple. The Patrician of Map Sural mobilized his allies - most of the Irwan cities and townships - and the transition from teh Charnal Empire to the City-States of the Irwan happened smoothly, but had the effect of alerting the Charnal of the existance of an organized body of people - The Irwan.

?The Emperor, believing his Empire could easily crush the 'barbarians' in Eastern Maple, ordered his armies to attack and invade the Irwan lands.

The Imperials reached teh River Aus, and then was met by the Allied Irwan Forces, with their allies, the Dwarven Lords of the Iron Hill, led by the Patrician of Map Sural.

Early in the campaign, the elderly Patrician died of poisen from the Charnal. His son sword that the Charnal would be pushed far beyond the R.Aus, and the lords of all the Irwan swore to upholdthe new Patrician of Map Sural's orders in the war. The Dwarven Lords of the Iron Hill affirmed their alliance with the Irwan.

Thus, with renewed vigor, the Irwan and the Dwarves threw the Imperials past the river Charnal and Mt. Gorith. The Emperors plan to keep his Empire alive instead sped its collapse.

The Formation of the Maple Kingdom

In time, the Irwan Army withdrew to present day borders. After the war was comepleted, the lords of the Irwan presented themselves with a choice: Go back to rival cities, or be united. Knowing that they could never have stood against the Charnal Empire apart, as they did united, under the enlightened leadership of the Patrician of Map Sural, they choast to affirm the Oath of Alliegence of War to the Patrician ina time of poeace, swearing to the bemused Patrician the loyaties of a king. The Dwarven lords of the Iron hill again affirmed their good relationship with the Irwan people and the new King. When all of the Iron Hills became united 300 years later, it was to the Kingdom of the Maple Grasslands they turned too for guidence.

700 years after the begining of the first king's reign, the Maple Roads were paved, linking all the major cities and towns in the kingdom.
