Information on Crescent Isle Regional ER/Trauma Center

The only Level I Trauma Center in the Caribbean and meets or exceeds all the criteria set forth by the American College of Surgeons for such designation. Providing trauma care for the entire Caribbean Islands, the ER/Trauma Unit handles close to 27,000 acute trauma admissions annually.

This Level I rating means that a designated trauma team is in the hospital 24 hours a day, ready to respond to the most serious injuries. An ER trauma room and a dedicated trauma operating room are available 24 hours a day.

Essential for the quality of trauma care provided by CIMC are its facilities. These include a 20-bed burn unit, a 31 bed integrated Acute and Sub-Acute care unit, and LifeFlight, an active air medical transport program. LifeFlight provides rapid access to the tertiary care facilities of the Trauma Center for all patients within the Caribbean islands. With over a decade of active service, the LifeFlight helicopters make over 1000 flights annually. LifeFlight and the Caribbean Rehabilitation Center at Crescent Isle allow patients to remain within the CIMC system from the time of injury until their return to work.

        Divisions:

The Emergency/Trauma Center is the main area of the center and where all the emergencies come in that are not part of the other divisions.

The Pediatric Center realizes that children are not miniature adults and has the different kinds of equipment needed to treat these special patients. The waiting room was designed with kids in mind to help put them at ease.

The Chest Pain Center is dedicated exclusively to the treatment of chest pain which makes checking out chest pain fast, convenient, and private. The Chest Pain Center does not have a waiting room, because the first rule in treating chest pain is : NO WAITING.

Our new Minor Emergency Center has a separate waiting room and separate facilities so you get quicker care for your minor problems from physicians and nurses with a lot less waiting time.
