The Crash

~*~The characters are paramonts etc.~*~

“I’m NEVER, I repeat NEVER letting you fly any kind of flying machine ever again!” Kathryn Janeway shouted as the shuttlecraft that was carrying Tom, B’Elanna and her with Chakotay piloting crashed into a lake on a M class planet they had detected only minutes earlier.

“Is everyone all right?” Chakotay asked moments after he crashed the shuttle.

“My head hurts,” Tom complained.

“I think my arm’s broken,” growled B’Elanna.

“Never again,” Kathryn repeated grimacing as she moved her right wrist, “I think my right wrist has been fractured. How about you?”

Sighing Chakotay said, “I don’t know, nothing serious. Gods I’m sorry I don’t know what happened. One moment I was in control of this shuttle and the next…” he trailed off looking at her with concerned eyes.

“It’s okay, we’re all alive right?” Kathryn asked smiling a loop sided smile at him. “Is there a med. kit any where on this ship?”

“Not that I can see,” Tom said looking around the small ship.

“Oh shit, get out of here now!” Janeway yelled as she felt the shuttle begin to sink into the water. When Tom and B’Elanna were out of the ship she dived through the door staying beniethe the water long enough to make sure Chakotay got out seeing him motion for her to go up she began kicking her feet surfacing shortly. She started heading toward the shore but making no progress she turned on her back and once she relearned how to float she started kicking once again steering with her good arm. She didn’t have to go very far before she felt her feet touch bottom, thankfully she stood up and walked the rest of the way up on the beach looking around to see Tom and B’Elanna already laying down. And Chakotay shortly joined her sitting down on the beach motioning for her to do the same.

“I’m sorry,” he told her again. Then asked, “Do you hate me? How’s your wrist?”

“Chakotay it’s okay, really, my wrist is just broken it’s not the end of the world or anything,” she told him.

“I know, it’s just…” he started.

“It’s just what?” she asked him turning her head so that she could look at him.

He hung his head and said, “It’s just that I…” he lifted his head again when he felt her hand on his shoulder and took a deep breath and continued, “I love you.” A small smile started forming on Kathryn’s face as he went on, “I love you more then anything else in the universe and I gods know that I don’t deserve you but I want and need you. I wake up each morning just because I know that I’ll be lucky enough to hear your voice and see your face. You are the only thing I live for. When you’re happy I’m happy and when you’re sad I’d do anything to make you smile. And I know that you have no reason to give me a chance but when I into you eyes I know the reason why I am alive. You’re all that I could ever possibly want and more then I could ever hope to be allowed to have. Every time I see you I fall in love with you all over again. You are the woman of my dreams in every way.”

She was about to say something but was interrupted by B’Elanna saying, “How sweet, Kathryn don’t dare say a word. I know you’ll screw it up some how!”

“Hey!” Kathryn said looking over at Tom and B’Elanna scowling.

“You would have. Come on what were you going to say really?” Tom said joining the conversation.

“I’m not telling you two,” Kathryn said rolling her eyes.

“What about me?” Chakotay asked her.

Nodding she leaned over and started whispering, “For starts I could never hate you, at least really hate you. I might tell you I do at times but I’m lying because I could never hate the person that means the most in the world to me. And as for the rest of what you said it’s I who doesn’t deserve you, you’re so, for a lack of a better word, perfect. You’ve been so patient with me letting me have the time I needed to find out what I wanted. And what I want is you.” Turning his head to look into her eyes he brought his hand up to gently caress her cheek. And as she finished talking he smiled leaning in to close the gap between them and as their lips touch and the kiss slowly grew more intense due to him parting his lips and running his tongue over her lips begging passage, which after a moment she allowed. At the instant their tongues met he finally knew the true meaning of peace.

He slid his arm free arm around her waist and pulled her into his lap and as she pulled her head back to draw a deep breath he looked over to see Tom and B’Elanna making out. And said, “We’d better find shelter because it looks like a storms coming and we’re all soaking wet so we need to start a fire ASAP.”

“I think there’s a cave over there,” Kathryn said trying to get up only to find Chakotay’s arm tighten its hold on her. “You need to let me go so we can stand up.”

“I can think of something better,” he told her smiling he slipped one arm under her knees and the other behind her back and stood up with her in his arms.

“Not exactly what I had in mind Commander,” she informed him. “Now put me down, please.”

“Anything you say Captain,” he replied and lowered her legs so they met the ground but he didn’t bother removing his other arm from around her waist and instead pulled her closer up against his side.

Tom and B’Elanna watched their superior officers with wonder. They sure did flirt a lot they thought silently and as they saw them kiss earlier they were guessing it was going to get a lot more interesting on Voyager. Tom spoke up, “B’Elanna and I will go get fire wood while you two try to get a fire going in that cave Kathryn saw earlier. We’ll meet you there.”

“Okay Tom we’ll see you in a little while then, don’t be too long,” Kathryn said as she started walking over to where the cave was and found it to be a fairly large, about 10 feet deep and 6 feet wide she estimated. Deciding they should probably build the fire in the middle of the cave and sleep as far back as possible she began to collect dry grass. After getting Chakotay to let go of her and help they managed to get a fairly large pile of dead grass and twigs in the center of the cave.

“So Kathryn how exactly do you expect to start the fire?” Chakotay asked her as he sat down next to her wrapping his arms around her slender figure.

“Well if you would leave me alone for two seconds I could figure it out couldn’t I?” she replied then seeing the hurt in his eyes said, “I’m sorry Chakotay, I’m just a little irritated by our situation right now.”

“That’s okay,” he told her hugging her body into his, smiling as she seemed to relax for a minute. Then proceeded to say, “We should really get out of these wet cloths.”

“I’ve got it,” she said suddenly jumping out of his arms and running out side and start to look at the ground finding what she wanted she hurried back in side the cave looking at the cave walls. Again finding what she wanted took aim holding the rock she had got from out side with her good hand she hit the wall as hard as she could creating sparks of light. “Chakotay I could use a hand here if you don’t mind,” she said motioning for him to grab some of the dead grass she told him where to stand and where to hold the grass so that the sparks could ignite. Once they got the embers started she added small twigs to the first until they had a small flame burning and was glad to see Tom and B’Elanna return with their arms full of dry branches. Adding them little by little they had a nice fire going in no time.

“We need to get out of these wet cloths as much as possible. Before we get hypothermia,” Tom stated as he started taking off his red vest motioning for everyone to follow his example. Soon they all were down to just the essential clothing, which was just tank tops and pants for the women and boxers for the men. They had their cloths scattered through out the cave in various places. As they all stared at the fire Kathryn felt Chakotay’s arms go around her pulling her into his lap again sighing she allowed her self to be enveloped in his embrace. And slowly she fell into a sleep filed with wonderful dreams only to be awakened by the familiar tingle of the transporter and then a thought crossed her mind. “What will the crew think of this? Oh well I don’t really care right about now.” Was the answer that first came to mind. "I love him and all that matters now is that we’re together."
