On the Outside

On the Outside
By Daphne

When you see her
She seems strong and happy
Pleasant and positive
On the outside
But her protective shell
Is keeping anyone from seeing
That she is none of it
In the deep recesses of her mind
Every night, she opens up
To a weak, desperate cry
A sob, pleading for help
She has no one to turn to
No shoulder to cry on
So she closes up to the world
Her reasons for sadness
Don't seem like reasons at all
She fears misunderstanding
So lets people only see
What's on the outside
