Leaving You
I must leave now, darling
But I cannot tell you why
Our destinies must part
It is time to say good-bye
I know you are my soul mate
Even I can’t understand
The reason God has chosen
To separate our hands
I love you so very much
I do not want to go
I drag on this sad good-bye
My heart is screaming, "No!"
We can’t afford to lose this love
That we so recently got
But they see the need to tear us apart
And leave our love to rot
If I could somehow change the past
And keep our love hidden
I’d do it in two heartbeats
It would not be forbidden
But they have found our secret
And as tears roll from our eyes
I whisper one more; "I love you, dear"
I leave you, and my heart dies
