The Captain, The Commander & The Mistletoe [Part Two]!

by ALM_Voyager

"Chakotay to B'Elanna" The Commander was walking down the abandoned corridor towards the bridge.

"B'Elanna here, what can I do for you Chakotay?" She asked, her voice filtered through the combadge system that the crew so heavily relied on.

"Have you seen . . ." he started to ask.

"The Captain? Yes, she just left engineering five minutes ago" B'Elanna supplied for him.

"I suppose she's already been to the mess hall, then," he stated sadly.

"Affirmative," there was a grin to her voice.

"Damn, I was going to warn her about . . ." he chuckled, imagining what Kathryn's face must have looked like when faced with Neelix's green platter.

"She was literally running into Engineering. Oh," there was a crash in the background and Chakotay winced, "I have to go . . . Carey disrupted the . . ." there was a Klingon curse muttered and then, "Torres out. . .HEY!"

Chakotay shook his head and then finally entered the bridge. Some Christmas Eve this was going to be.

Janeway had been on three decks and had noticed that someone had put a Christmas tree at some juncture or another on each level. She would bet five replicator rations that there were several more about the ship on other decks as well. What really caught her eye though weren't the unauthorized decorations but the security teams tri-scanning them . . . Tuvok, Janeway felt her mouth lift up on one side into a smile.

She headed towards the turbolift and didn't have a long wait before the doors automatically opened shoving the scene of two Ensigns kissing into her face. She placed her hands on her hips and waited . . . and waited . . . . and didn't wait a moment too long before she cleared her throat and the couple took one look at their Captain and rushed out, mutter apologies and a "Merry Christmas" out of the blue. She shook her head and stepped into the turbo lift and just as the doors swished shut she looked up and saw some sort of plant hanging from the top of the lift . . . "What . ." she said out loud, reaching for the plant and drawing it down for closer inspection. Holding it up in front of her face with two fingers she didn't have a chance to think as the doors flew open one deck before the bridge admitting Paris.

He took one look at Janeway and then at the Mistletoe between her fingers before getting his flamboyant helm-boy attitude, "Aww, Captain, for me?"

"MISTER Paris!" She reprimanded.

Chakotay turned as Kathryn came running out of the turbolift and seated herself in the lead chair. He watched as she looked above her, around her, even under the seat before leaning over and softly asking, "Is something wrong, Kathryn?" He heard her mutter something about Paris, green food and mistletoe being a bad combination before chuckling and looking back at his PADD.

"Did you know," she leaned over the arm of her chair and he took the opportunity to do the same, "someone put mistletoe in the Turbolift?"

"Ah, and you were . . .stuck?" He smiled, his dimples flashing and Kathryn almost wanted to yell at him to stop it.

"Yes. Is Neelix responsible?" She asked seriously.

"No, he hasn't caused any trouble since that live turkey he tried to replicate for Thanksgiving. Well, that and the green stuff you encountered today."

Janeway grimaced and leaned back into the space of her chair.

"I'd be careful though, Captain." Chakotay stated, suddenly serious.

"Oh, Commander?" She questioned.

"Rumor has it that the Mistletoe has invaded all levels of the ship and there are orders to have no mercy," and with that he winked causing Kathryn's jaw to drop before she glanced furiously down at the readings on her PADD.

All was quiet on the bridge . . .
not an Ensign was stirring . . . .
not even a Commander . . .
(so I can't rhyme . . .) ~K

Kathryn chuckled silently in her mind as she sent that tidbit of a message over to Chakotay via the PADD. She smiled as Chakotay rolled his eyes towards the ceiling of the bridge and then bent over, shaking his head and punching things into his own PADD. He had a thing or two up his sleeve as well . . .

Tuvok would make a good
elf . . . don't you think? The
ears and all . . .
(so I'm terrible . . .)

"Commander!" She reached over and slapped his arm playfully with the PADD. As quickly as the game had started it ended when Paris swung around in his chair, making a full circle, like a child, but slow enough that he pointed a finger at them both. If Kathryn hadn't been so flustered she would've sent him to the brig. "I'll be in my ready room," she muttered. "Commander, you have the bridge."
