(NOTE: Because this is a repaint, this is not a full-blown review. This mainly covers any changes made to the mold and the color scheme, and merely compares it to Universe 2.0 Beachcomber. For a review on the mold itself, read the review of Universe 2.0 Beachcomber here.)
Sandstorm here may be
a slight homage to G1 Sandstorm, who had similar colors (but was
a triple changer, with dune buggy being only one of his modes). Regardless
if it is or not, Sandstorm certainly has a color scheme here befitting
his name-- the light tan and orange complement each other quite well and
certainly give him a bit of "sandy/desert/beach" theme. The black serves
as a nice contrast color to keep Sandstorm from looking too light or one-tone.
The silver and white accents go nicely against the black, but are light
enough where they don't contrast enough with the tan and orange paint.
The paint apps are widespread enough throughout the figure where there
aren't any big patches of unpainted plastic, which is of course a big plus.
No mold changes have
been made to Autobot Alliance Sandstorm.
Autobot Alliance Sandstorm
is a nice redeco, with a color scheme that fits the toy quite well, G1
homage or no. I like Beachcomber's overall darker color scheme SLIGHTLY
better, but they're both great deco jobs, and this is a fine "second place"
toy if you can't find (or don't want to pay the prices for) Universe 2.0
Beachcomber. Mildly recommended, particularly if you're into Legends class
figures.
