(NOTE: Because this is a repaint, this is not a full-blown review. This mainly covers any changes made to the mold and the color scheme, and merely compares it to Legends of Cybertron Evac. For a review on the mold itself, read the review of Legends of Cybertron Evac here.)
Classics Whirl is, like
most others in the line, an homage to the G1 character in the same name.
Granted, since he's just a straight repaint of a mold designed for a completely
different character, he's only an homage in terms of the color scheme-alt
mode combination, but he's still an homage. All of the colors go together
surprisingly well-- I never thought baby blue would be such a fitting color
for a Transformer, but it works pretty well against the charcoal gray.
(This is one of the few instances where I feel a charcoal gray color works
better than just a plain black.) The yellow lines in robot and vehicle
modes also look really nice against the blue, though making it more of
a plain yellow instead of a yellowish green would've looked a tad better.
The dark blue paint apps and dark red optics in robot mode help to individualize
the head a bit more from the rest of the body, since they're used in very
few other places besides the head.
No mold changes have
been made to Classics Whirl.
Classics Whirl is a
great repaint of the LoC Evac mold-- beyond perhaps a minor change in the
tone of the yellow, I wouldn't have changed a thing regarding the color
scheme. Easily recommended over the rather loud LoC Evac toy.
