Nautilator
Beast ModeRobot Mode
Difficulty of Transformation: Very Easy
Color Scheme: Light seafoam green, light gray, black, and some yellow
Rating: 5.7

Decepticon Nautilator Bio:
FUNCTION: Underwater Excavations
MOTTO: "Blame someone else before they blame you."
Despite his name, Decepticon Nautilator lacks nautical know-how, often losing his way on his underwater missions. As powerful as he is in his lobster mode, he tends to get a little crabby with his fellow Seacons, blaming them for his mistakes in the deeps. Though they grumble about his attitude and poor navigation skills, they're always willing to haul him ashore with whatever prize he's wrested from the ocean floor.

Difficulty of Transformation: Very Easy
Color Scheme: Rich pink, light seafoam green, and some yellow
Rating: 5.0

Overbite Bio:
FUNCTION: Undersea Terminator
MOTTO: "There are only two kinds of creatures: predator and prey."
A bottomless greed for prey drives Overbite in his hunt for yet another victim. Relentless and unopposably strong, he finds his greatest success in the sea where his speed and endurance make him a dangerous predator. When he tires of hunting Autobots, he entertains himself by annihilating cruise ships and oil tankers.

Difficulty of Transformation: Very Easy
Color Scheme: Black, light gray, light seafoam green, and some yellow
Rating: 5.0

Decepticon Seawing Bio:
FUNCTION: Undersea Reconnaissance
MOTTO: "The darkest depths reveal the darkest secrets."
Like an underwater ghost, Decepticon Seawing glides through the aquatic gloom, emanating danger. He likes the murky depths where he achieves a quaking respect with his mere presence. His Decepticon comrades suspect his ambition reaches beyond the Seacons to a larger role and Decepticon Seawing neither confirms nor denies this rumor because he does secretly regard himself as destined to command.

Beast ModeRobot Mode
Difficulty of Transformation: Very Easy
Color Scheme: Blue, light pink, and some yellow and rich pink
Rating: 4.9

Skalor Bio:
FUNCTION: Amphibious Assault
MOTTO: "I stink, therefore I am."
Skalor surrounds himself with a miasma of malodorous fluid. What his fellow Seacons regard as an easy repair job, Skalor sees as a mark of character. He's happy in his smelly cloud of pollution even if he occasionally needs rescuing from the seafloor when his fluid levels dip and he overheats. Needless to say, he tends to be something of a loner.

Color Scheme: Light seafoam green, rich pink, light pink, and some black, yellow, and chrome silver
Rating: 6.2

Decepticon Snap Trap Bio:
FUNCTION: Seacons Team Leader
MOTTO: "Broken Autobots never mend."
Cold-blooded, cold-hearted, Decepticon Snap Trap functions on one setting-- "Destroy!" He is never distracted by rage and only betrays agitation when he must circle back to finish off a survivor of his methodical brutality. His chilling indifference keeps the Seacons under his command terrified, and prompt to fulfill his orders.

Color Scheme: Blue, rich pink, light pink, and some yellow and black
Rating: 5.4

Decepticon Tentakil Bio:
FUNCTION: Underwater Demolitions
MOTTO: "Embrace your enemies... until they're terminated."
His insidious charm lulls his enemies into a terminal complacency. At the moment when their defenses are relaxed, Decepticon Tentakil strikes with his cruel and crushing grip. He takes a perverse pleasure in getting close enough to his victims to observe their dismay as they realize the lethal consequences of taking him at his word.

Piranacon (Combined Form)
Piranacon
Difficulty of Transformation: Hard
Color Scheme: Rich pink, light pink, light seafoam green, black, blue, light gray, and some chrome silver and yellow
Rating: 5.2

It's kinda weird the way things work. I review the repaint of this figure mold and all, given that it's the first iteration I have of it, and I'm now reviewing the original color scheme of the figure (more or less) as a repaint. Anyways, this color scheme certainly identifies this set as having originally come out in the late 1980s, when Hasbro's idea of color schemes seemes to be basically throwing dart boards at a color wheel. I will admit that overall, this color schemes seems a bit "sea-based" but more in a colorful coral reef kind of way. I love the seafoam green, black, and blue colors used-- they really bring out the sea theme and are pretty palatable, to boot. Plus, they go well with each other. The black and gray serve as nice contrast colors, but aren't particularly exciting. I certainly prefer them to the light and rich pink colors, though. Ick. Just... pink? Seriously? And there's a lot of it, too-- more than on the original G1 toy, in fact. This is particularly evident on Overbite, who has way more pink on him than the original toy did. Because of my dislike of pink, my favorite two of these Seacons are Nautilator and Seawing, though they don't catch the eye as pleasantly as the Club Exclusive decos of them. The chrome silver used on the chest "wings" and the sword is a really nice touch, though, especially since we don't see much of that these days.
No mold changes have been made to the G1 Piranacon reissue.
The G1 Piranacon reissue set is probably the better way to go for most G1 collectors who don't mind the blockiness of the original toys, despite my misgivings about his odd and overly pink color scheme. Yes, I think every individual component, and the combined form, looks worse than the Club Exclusive deco job and has less color variation-- but the latter is also a LOT more expensive, especially if you're looking for it on the secondary market. The G1 Piranacon reissue set here goes for a VERY reasonable price, and as of this writing is on discount at Bigbadtoystore.com for even less. Plus, the stickers are pre-applied-- a big plus-- and he comes with some very nice collector cards.

Decepticon Piranacon Bio:
FUNCTION: Undersea Warrior
MOTTO: "To live is to hunt; to hunt is to live!"
Combined to form Decepticon Piranacon, the Seacons become more than the sum of their parts. Their single intent, to hunt for prey, brings their minds and weapons together at a level beyond their individual incarnations. This awesome force is channeled through Decepticon Piranacon, whose lethal focus drives him on and on in the expression of his immense and destructive power.
