Real Name: Cal Rankin
Special Power: Ability to take on the powers of other Mutants that he's near
Guest Appearance: X-M:E Comic #6 (No Title)
Back Story: When Cal was a little kid, his nutty scientist father experimented on him, and the results of such experiments was his ability to copy the abilites of any Mutants that he comes close to. He's not a Mutant himself, though (that's why above I wrote "Special Power" instead of "Mutant Power". He and his mom didn't discover his powers until his teen years, though, and by then his parents had divorced, for obvious reasons). During one skateboard outing with Spyke, Mimic managed to copy his powers without willing it. Spyke told Professor Xavier, who invited Mimic and his mother to the Mansion, thinking that Mimic was a Mutant. After a mishap in which his mother brought Mimic to the wrong section of the Mansion (in which all of the other X-Men were in, which caused havoc, as you can see in the picture above), Xavier managed to get all of the students away from Mimic long enough to do a little Cerebro-scan on him, and they found out that he wasn't really a Mutant. Xavier said to them that he had to talk this over with Storm and Logan, since Mimic wasn't a Mutant, so they would have to discuss whether he could stay at the Xavier Institute. Mimic and his mother got overly upset about this, and they left. ("You think you.. freaks can reject me!?") So Mimic and his mother left the Mansion and moved away from town, to prevent Mimic from ever accidentally mimicking another Mutant's powers again.
Personality: Cal has a personality very similar to (Season 1 & 2) Spyke's, in that he's a bit of a rebellious character who liked skateboard and stuff like that. However, he's a bit more confrontational and short-tempered, and this is what would have kept him from making a good X-Man even IF he had been accepted into the fold. He also doesn't like being ordered around by others. His moron parents probably didn't help much, either.
Final Reflections: Mimic only appeared in the comics, and quite frankly, I'm glad that that was the extent of his involvement in Evo. His background- and the fact that he's not a Mutant, yet has special powers that allow him to copy their abilities- was just waaay too coincidental/corny for Evo's more realistic take on the X-Men license. I couldn't see liking it if this character had made his way into the show.
