Real Name: Wanda Maximoff
Mutant Power: Ability to hex reality (i.e., make luck extraordinarily bad and make everything crazy-go-nuts)
Voice Actor: Kelly Sheridan (also the voice of the green-haired hologram girl in Transformers: Armada)
First Appearance: "The HeX Factor"
Back Story: Wanda and her fraternal twin brother, Pietro, were both born after a relationship between an unknown woman and Magneto. Eventually, Wanda became "uncontrollable"- whether this refers to her extremely dangerous powers emerging extraordinarily early or her just having severe temper tantrums is unknown. Anyway, Magneto eventually got tired of her and sent her off to a maximum security mental hospital when she was 6. She had had many psychological examinations/visits with Xavier sometime when she was in the hospital, but it apparently didn't do any good. Anyway, Mystique managed to break her out about 10 years later and Wanda joined the Brotherhood, apparently because of her thanks to Mystique for breaking her out. She was a good force to use against Magneto for a while- until he managed to abduct her and use Mastermind to alter her memories of the past, thus eliminating her want to kill Magneto and seriously hurt her brother, Quicksilver. According to Xavier's "future visions" at the end of the series, Wanda, will stay with the other Brotherhood members, but they'll eventually break off from Mystique's unreliable tutelage and start working for S.H.I.E.L.D.
Personality: Well, Wanda's personality is basically divided into two seperate ones; the personality she had before Mastermind's mind wipe, and her personality afterwards. Beforehand, she was bitter and mad practically all of the time, and her entire existence seemed to be focused towards killing her father. She also wasn't one to take "no" for an answer- after all, with the awesome power she had, you COULDN'T give her "no" for an answer. She didn't have anything against any of the X-Men particularly, although she didn't get along with any of them, either. Thus, she really wouldn't actually ATTACK any of the X-Men unless Mystique directly ordered her to, and even then, it was only at the beginning when she didn't even know who the X-Men were, really. After Mastermind's mind alterations, Wanda's a little (note a little) more tolerant, but she's still not exactly the nicest person to be around. Needless to say, she also doesn't have anything against Quicksilver or Magneto anymore. Both before and after Mastermind's mind wipe, though, one major thing has remained constant with Wanda's personality- she does NOT like Toad, who has a completely one-sided crush on her. She tolerates him, but little else.
Final Reflections: Wanda definitely had "evil" written all over her, from the moment I saw a screencap of her for the first time on the Internet. And yet, as the series progressed... it turned out that even though she wasn't exactly a good guy, she wasn't the baddest of bad guys, either- she just wanted to kill her father. Well, yeah, okay, that sounded worse than I meant. You know what I mean. She still definitely had a light side, as she didn't outright attack the X-Men unless prompted, and, most telling of all, she didn't kill Toad right off the bat. Now THAT requires self-control if you're a Brotherhood member. Yup, Wanda was a pretty cool character. I doubt we'll see the Scarlet Witch portrayed in such a wonderful manner in any of the other X-Men continuities.
