The Moved CemeterySometimes the actions of well meaning people over a hundred years ago at first may not seem like they would effect lives now a days, unless it was an invention or something along that line. But the movement of a small cemetery I am sure would not be thought of as effecting this generation, but it did. In the 1850s a well-known circus promoter moved a small inconspicuous cemetery a few miles away so that it might accommodate more people and be more centralize. No one seemed to mind and over the years the small cemetery grew and it's original location seemed to be forgotten or so it seemed. Early one morning, even before the sun was up, our phone rang and on the other end was a hysterical family. The parents and three children were experiencing the beginnings of a haunting. We made arrangements to meet with them later in the day. We drove up to their house and parked across the street from their building. As I got out of the car I noticed a very heavy feeling that seemed to come from their house into the street. There was so much energy that Larry and I felt as if they were walking into a fog bank. The woman of the house eagerly met us and began at once to tell us what was going on. The three kids all reported things happening to them. The oldest daughter had something sit on her bed and she always felt as if something was watching her. The youngest daughter seemed to have the most happen to her, she was seeing red eyes, hearing breathing, knockings and banging. She always feels a presence in her room and out side her bedroom window. Devotional blessed candles when lit would explode, lights would burn out, and there would be strange smells that would suddenly and unexplainably appear and disappear. The woman one day while laying in the bed felt a rat on her, she brushed it off, and called the exterminator he came and could not find any indication that there were rats. The woman had also been attacked and raped one night. She had been scratched and bitten and bruised. The husband and son seemed to have been spared any paranormal attacks, but things that were placed down would be discovered moved or missing, causing a feeling of tension and irritation. The hallway of the house was extremely heavy as was the bedrooms and the top floor in the house. Upon touring the cellar, I came across an entity, his name was Joshua Stevenson, he was a tall-emaciated young man, he seemed to be around seventeen years of age and he told me that this land at one time was a cemetery and that he had been buried there. He believed the year to be 1852 and he told me that he had died of tuberculosis and was buried right where this house was built. He was extremely worried that his family could not come and pray for him as his head stone was missing. As I told the story to the rest, the mother remembered a story of there being a cemetery on this property a very long time ago and that it was moved. The kids in the neighborhood liked to scare each other with stories of some of the stones in each other's yards being gravestones. We felt that these stories and the reported haunting of the spirit looking for his head stone may have left the door open for something malevolent to enter into the house. So Larry got out his prayer book and we went about praying and exorcising the house and sending Joshua to the light. After about an hour of praying we noticed that the house began to feel so much better and everyone seemed to be more and more relaxed. We cautioned the family to not talk about the haunting and to try and ignore as much as possible any residual paranormal noises that might occur after we left. We did go back a few days later and the whole area felt much better as did the house. We are sure that the haunting has stopped and Joshua has found the peace he was looking for. Updated 9/26/02We have recently heard from the family that lived in a
house where over a hundred years ago a small cemetery stood. It was moved by a
well known circus promoter who wanted it to be more centralized and larger to
accommodate more people. |
