The Haunted Theater
Ever
since moving into this city I was intrigued with the old abandoned theaters.
This huge edifice that once housed two magnificent theaters and a hotel, whose
sign can still be seen boasting rooms for $1.50 a night seemed to beckon to me
each time I drove by.
The
theaters and hotel had been left abandoned since the late 1960s about the time
the big conglomerate movie houses became popular forcing many these emporiums to
close their doors forever. Many of the old theaters have met the demolition’s
ball, but these two some how managed to escape that fate. But now this fate
might befall them, as the city was eager to “free up” this valuable piece of
real estate.
A
group of concerned citizens got together to take another look at the theaters to
see if any thing could be done to revitalize them into the grandeur that they
once were. This is how I got to go into them.
Immediately
upon entering the first theater, the Majestic, my senses were assaulted; I could
feel the psychic energy, hear the disembodied voices that seemed to call me from
beyond the ages. I sensed that this was going to be much more than a tour of a
theater to see if it could be restored this was going to be an unscheduled ghost
hunt.
As
we toured deeper and deeper into the dimly lit theater the years of neglect
seemed to fade away as the psychic energy became more and more prevalent. I
began to take photos with my digital camera on the first floor, as I looked at
the photo I was amazed to see hundreds of orbs floating through out the picture.
I became really excited and began snapping away each picture showing more and
more orbs and strange lights that could not be explained. The outside of the
building was all boarded up so that no sunlight could penetrate, but in many
pictures taken in the lobby it looks like sunlight is streaming in the doors and
up the stairs. Perhaps this is the spirits trying to escape our invading groups
for fear that perhaps their “home” was being set for demolition.
I
continued to take more pictures and again got many orbs, strange lights and what
looked like ectoplasm through out the three buildings. The hotel was as
psychically busy as the two theaters; we got many pictures of orbs there as
well.
The
only explanation for all this paranormal activity could be that these spirits
may have “showed” themselves to say please don’t demolish these beautiful
hotels there is history here, through the architecture, the paintings on the
walls and ceilings and through the spirits that once again came to see a show at
the Majestic and the Plaza theater and maybe to rent one of the hotel rooms.
Check
out pictures that we took from the theater.
