Light: Relfection and Refraction


Objective: Student will be able to describe light using reflection, refraction and the law of reflection.


Materials: Comb, Mirror, Flashlight, Textbook, Piece of Cardboard, Protractor, Concave Lens, Convex Lens.


Procedure:
Try to make the set-ups you see in the diagram:



Conclusion Questions:

  1. Calculate the angle of incidence and the angel of reflection. Are the two angles equal?


  2. Does your experiment justify the Law of Reflection? Explain your answer.



  3. When you changed the position of the mirror, did your angles of incidence and reflection remain equal? What proof do you have? (in other words please figure out the angles for the second trial)




  4. What happened to the light when you used the concave lens?



  5. What happened to the light when you used the concave lens?
